    Claims Assistant

    About the Claims Assistant Role

    • This role involves filing and processing claims into the company's system, gathering and organizing files for audits and corresponding with insured individuals about obtaining the information necessary to file claims correctly.
    • The job holder is expected to demonstrate commitment and loyalty and perform all duties in accordance with the organization’s office routines and procedures, keeping in mind the overall business objectives.
    • The successful candidate will be required to start ASAP.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Receive and process new applications for claims and handle customer service issues.
    • Review incoming claims to determine whether they are admissible based on the terms of the insurance policy as per the underwriter.
    • Verify the claims documents and submit them to the underwriters ASAP.
    • Communicate with the insured regarding claim status updates, payment schedules, and other relevant information.
    • Prepare detailed reports summarizing claims activity for internal use by management that are required on a monthly basis or as otherwise advised.
    • Maintain claim databases, including information about claim status, payouts, and related details.
    • Fill in the Incourage daily claims CRM system promptly and carefully.
    • Ensure proper documentation and timely processing of all claims.
    • Confirm all claims and refunds in cases of cash in lieu and update accordingly .
    • Maintain proper filing of claim documents.
    • Ensure compliance with all regulations.
    • Any other duty that may be allocated by management from time to time.

    Requirements for the role

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
    • At least 1 year of experience in a claims role.
    • Knowledge of insurance principles, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures is essential. This includes understanding different types of insurance coverage.
    • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace is necessary. 
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills are vital for interacting with clients, colleagues, and insurance providers. The ability to explain complex insurance terms and procedures clearly is important.
    • Being able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and keep track of deadlines is important to ensure timely claim processing.
    • Strong problem-solving skills are necessary to identify solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Attention to detail in processing insurance claims.

    Frontend Engineer

    • The role involves designing, developing,  testing, and maintaining internal frontend applications while collaborating with the product designers, managers and backend engineers to turn requirements and design documents into elegant code and delightful user experiences.
    • The successful candidate will ideally be required to start ASAP.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Developing and maintaining quality software product code.
      • Developing software components and unit tests.
      • Building scalable software solutions.
      • Integrate external software libraries and APIs into existing and new projects.
      • Maintain legacy code written by other developers, including bug fixes.
      • Implementing new features based on business requirements.
      • Strong understanding of state management, API integration, and responsive design
    • Hiring, onboarding, and training front-end engineers.
    • Collaborating with the product manager to build user-specific applications.
    • Writing technical documentation.

    Skills and Qualifications Required

    Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in modern frontend technologies: Vue, React, Angular, React-Native, Flutter (3+ years experience).
    • Strong unit and integration testing skills, with experience in testing frameworks such as Jest, Enzyme, or Cypress.
    • Ability to translate design mockups and prototypes into application designs, with a keen eye for detail and user experience.
    • Experience with TypeScript for type-safe JavaScript development and familiarity with state management libraries.
    • Knowledge of git workflows/branching models and experience in version control systems.
    • Familiarity with RESTful APIs.

    Soft Skills

    • Superior organizational skills and excellent time management.
    • Outstanding communication skills both oral and written, technical and non-technical.
    • Self-directed and able to complete assigned work with limited supervision.
    • Able to work collaboratively in a cross-functional Agile team environment
    • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 
    • Eager to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

    Underwriting Intern

    • The Underwriting Intern will work closely with our experienced underwriting team to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the insurance underwriting process. This internship is designed to provide exposure to various aspects of underwriting, risk assessment, and policy analysis.

    The successful candidate will ideally be required to start ASAP.

    Duration: 3 months (paid internship)

    What you will do:

    • Engage in a comprehensive training program to understand the fundamentals of insurance underwriting.
    • Participate in workshops, mentorship sessions, and on-the-job training to build technical and industry-specific skills.
    • Assist in the analysis of insurance policies to understand coverage, terms, and conditions.
    • Learn how to assess risks associated with different insurance products.
    • Gain proficiency in using data analysis tools to evaluate and interpret underwriting data.
    • Assist in conducting research to support underwriting decisions.
    • Learn how to accurately maintain underwriting records and documentation.
    • Assist in organizing and managing underwriting files.
    • Shadow and learn effective communication with various stakeholders, including clients, brokers, and internal teams.
    • Develop written communication skills for creating underwriting reports and correspondence.
    • Work closely with the underwriting team to understand the collaborative nature of underwriting within the broader context of the insurance industry.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions.

    Requirements for the role

    • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field.

    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
