    Regional PSS-SEL Education Manager

    As the Regional Psychosocial Support Support (PSS)-Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Education Manager, you will be responsible for developing a capacity building strategy, for training and capacity building of NRC staff and for providing overall technical guidance on implementation of Better Learning Programme (BLP), across East Africa & Yemen in nine country offices. While based in the Regional office in Kenya, you will ensure alignment with global standards and high-quality global roll-out and scale-up of the Better Learning Programme (BLP) and NRC’s classroom based psychosocial support programme.

    Specific responsibilities

    • Develop a regional BLP capacity building strategy aimed at roll-out and scale-up of the BLP across NRC EAY country offices
    • Develop a regional workplan across regional and country offices outlining capacity building and training approaches and schedules for country offices
    • Develop a regional BLP master budget
    • Support the development of contextualized BLP guidance and tools, such as BLP training booklets, teacher guides and BLP manuals
    • Provide technical support to regional and/or country level After Action Reviews and evaluations relating to BLP
    • Support the recruitment of BLP staff across the region if requested by country offices
    • Create a regional BLP community of practice
    • Focal point to ensure quality implementation of BLP across relevant country offices through online support and follow-up, field-visits, coaching and mentoring etc
    • Compile and disseminate best practices, lessons learnt, recommendations, and case studies from project implementation
    • Support the development of new proposals in cooperation with the regional Education Adviser (including budget)
    • Support MHPSS research agenda with technical guidance and defining proper dissemination strategies

    Generic professional competencies 

    • Relevant studies in the sectors of education and child psychology;
    • Experience in working with children and/or teachers directly; 
    • Previous work in PSS/SEL programs within Education in Emergency is required
    • Previous experience operating NRC’s Better Learning Programme (BLP1/BLP2/BLP3);
    • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context;
    • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile;
    • Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Arabic or Portuguese is a plus.

    Context related skills, knowledge and experience

    • Strong skills and experience in designing, organizing and leading dynamic and creative Trainings of Trainers (ToT) and workshops outside of one’s own context;
    • Previous work experience implementing education projects in East Africa & Yemen region;
    • Experience contextualizing global packages for local contexts;
    • Good communication, interpersonal skills and diplomacy;
    • Strong organizational and team working skills;
    • Good cultural awareness and sensitivity;

    Grants and Donors Technical Officer ACAPS

    The Grants and Donors Technical Officer will provide support with funding and grant related activities, including collating and analysing data, drafting information for project proposals, new grants, tracking progress against indicators, providing quality control oversight of donor reporting, and providing guidance and support to ACAPS project teams and budget holders across all stages of the project management cycle.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
    • Support the drafting of new project proposals, ensuring donor compliance and quality control
    • Support with checking contractual requirements for new grants, including amendments, to ensure compliance with NRC policies and procedures
    • Support with programmatic reporting and quality control of donor reports prior to submission
    • Support with donor MEAL requirements and monitoring of indicators and project learning
    • Support with identifying and tracking new funding opportunities from institutional donors and foundations, where appropriate

    Qualifications

    Professional competencies

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a project officer/grants and donor officer, or in a similar role within a national/international NGO/humanitarian funding agency
    • Basic understanding of donor requirements and procedures
    • Experience working in humanitarian contexts desirable  
    • Solid knowledge of computer software
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to organise multiple, simultaneous tasks, and deliver results within a specified period
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills
    • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
