KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will among others be able to do the following;

• Research, plan and develop on air content, ideas and concepts in line with the station strategy and values.
• On air presentation/continuity and acting on feedback from listeners.
• Write broadcasting reports and execute commercial logs
• Music research, identify and propose music that should be incorporated into the station sound.
• Carry out outside broadcasting/Road shows and attend functions on behalf of the station.
• Receiving briefs from clients/ marketers/ supervisor and executing accordingly.
• Scripting, recording, packaging and producing station features
• Creatively create and execute on air gaming elements
• Be able to demonstrate leadership skills
• Cross-promote the company’s online & traditional product lines
• Conceptualize and execute online campaigns for various projects
• Ensure all social media platforms are updated regularly
• Advise supervisor on new trends in online tools, applications, channels, design & strategy
• Liaise with digital sales officers to create campaigns that can be commercialized

THE PERSON

• Below 35 years of age
• A bachelor’s degree preferably in the arts or mass communication training or Diploma from KIMC in Radio broadcast or broadcast journalism.
• 3 years on- the- job experience in radio or TV broadcast
• Fluent in spoken and written English, Swahili (Coastal) with a rich voice and an ear for music.
• Have a proper understanding of the Coastal region and its people.
• Able to work long hours/odd hours without supervision.
• Must be social media savvy, innovative and creative
• Demonstrate professional approach and appearance including enthusiasm, drive, commitment, honesty, trust and loyalty
• Keep abreast of evolving trends through continuing professional education in the area of digital platforms
• Understand Media Law and Ethics.

Royal Media Services Limited wishes to recruit qualified Manager in the position of Head of Radio-Wimwaro FM. The person will be in charge of the station and ensure the station achieves and maintains the agreed positioning and delivers its mandate to inform, entertain and educate the intended target group.

Key roles & responsibilities

• In charge of the day to day running of the station. The person selected must thoroughly understand the Embu community, Wimwaro’s audience and the target market.
• Focus and deliver on the agreed positioning for the Station.
• Develop and direct the station’s on air sound by holding regular meetings to evaluate the station’s daily performance. They will also plan ahead and come up with the next day’s talent plans, benchmarks and daily actualization of the necessary ideas.
• Assignment of station responsibilities and delegating all the necessary duties
• Consolidate and deliver appropriate reports to senior management and provide guidance for program optimization.
• In line with their work, commission, read, analyse and interpret research on habits, preferences and trends in their specialized area and come up with clear implementation strategies in line with the findings
• Liaise with sales department and make decisions in tandem with the sales team on new promotional opportunities as well as attend client meetings
• Hold production and promotion meetings and brainstorm with all the relevant people and plan ahead
• Exhibit solid business acumen with an ability to grow the brand and enhance its competitive edge
• Manage customers’ expectations, manage and lead in customer nurturing programs and establish clear feedback mechanisms so that customer needs are addressed effectively.
• Be aware of the need and actualize broad based corporate social responsibility and enhance the station image in the community
• Organize engineering meetings and report the week’s technical discrepancies to technical and resolve all issues

Academic, professional Experience and person specification

• Should hold a Bachelor’s degree preferably in the arts preferably in Journalism
• Have mass communication training at an appropriate level
• Fluent in spoken and written Embu, English and Swahili
• Demonstrated ability to write and present creative scripts and promotional concepts
• Not more than 40 years old.
• Energetic and passionate about their work
• A good people manager and leader (able to get the best out of diverse talent)
• Able to work at odd hours and remote locations

Royal Media Services Limited wishes to recruit suitably qualified staff for the above positions. The Job holder will be responsible for the overall sound of the stations they will be assigned. They will be required to work closely with presenters and voice over artists in order to deliver quality productions fit for broadcast. They will also be required to competently interpret client and sales team’s briefs in commercial production to suit the client’s needs. They will need to have a clear understanding of the existing as well as potential environmental industry dynamics and be ready to adapt with the ever-changing demands and challenges.

Academic and professional experience

• Proficient in use of audio production software like adobe audition and cool edit pro
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in radio
• Any other qualification in radio production an added advantage
