    Chief Information Officer

    A Bit About The Role

    As Group Head he/she will have responsibility and accountability for delivery of group technology functions, both on an individual bank basis and as a consolidated Group, in addition to specific responsibility for Kenya. The job holder shall ensure that the Country IT strategies are aligned to the Group IT strategy, policies, and procedures, while ensuring consistency in IT processes, reporting standards and service delivery across the Group.

    Requirements

    Your daily adventures include:

    IT Strategy

    • Establish and direct the strategic and tactical goals, policies and procedures for IT department and provide overall direction for the technology roadmap of the Group, define technology blue prints that are implemented in furtherance of the Group business plans
    • Strategic advisor for business – orchestrate effective use of IT to deliver innovation, process
    • Improvements, and scale benefits and work with the senior management team to determine business priorities and direct the allocation of Group IT resources to effectively meet business requirements
    • Develop, implement, and monitor the Group IT strategy and implementation plan
    • Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
    • Develop and monitor the approved annual operating and capital budgets for information and technology systems. Ensuring budgets are aligned to the corporate strategy
    • Responsible for the technology vision and planning process that will regularly evaluate existing technology, information systems, and staffing, research new solutions and technologies and recommend changes

    IT Systems and Policies

    • Review status of Group wide system applications across the business and prepare recommendations for systems improvements
    • Build relationships with Countries and business units across the Group to establish technology needs, system enhancements and support
    • Develop and maintain corporate policies and standards aimed at maximizing effectiveness and minimizing costs related to the acquisition, implementation, and operation of IT systems
    • Develop and enforce policy and procedures to ensure the protection of the Group’s IT assets and the integrity, security, and privacy if information entrusted to or maintained by the Group
    • Ensuring all systems developed have justifiable business case and have return on investments
    • Ensure the creation and maintenance of all written documentation, including system and user manuals, license agreements, and documentation of modifications and upgrades
    • Ensure excellent customer service for users; and ensuring the business maintains current best practices in IT
    • Monitor compliance by establishing and monitoring procedures for managing technology risks and adherence to standards and policies

    IT Infrastructure

    • Support and optimize Group infrastructure for internal operations
    • Ensure quality of all IT processes including software and hardware development, provision, and accessibility
    • Coordinate and manage IT initiatives and projects of the business for the Group
    • Approve, coordinate, and control all projects related to selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems for the Group
    • Recommend changes to software applications based on analysis of their impact to all users’ requirements

    IT Security, Governance and Services

    • Have domain knowledge and expertise to define best practice frameworks in Service Management (ITIL), Architecture Design and Implementation (TOGAF), Project Management (PRINCE2) etc
    • Ensure that the Information Technology function effectively delivers on its mandate to serve the business
    • Provide expertise and support to Country Officers on all IT related matters
    • Design and develop Group security measures to guide information systems from unauthorized users
    • Primary custodian of the Information Security policy and is charged with the responsibility for both the strategy and operations that are necessary for the overall protection of the enterprise information assets
    • Define best practice frameworks required to operationalize practices and processes necessary to ensure day to day compliance to banks information security policy, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices

    Enterprise Architecture

    • Software quality assurance responsibilities including developing, test strategy/plan for every project, test scheduling and planning, user acceptance testing, test reporting and user acceptance reports, pre-deployment and deployment planning, and post implementation review and sanity test
    • Technology ideation and innovation responsibilities including business case review, assess alignment to architecture, duplicates, efforts estimate, generate high level architecture, and provide change management support

    Business continuity management

    • Develop and maintain Business Continuity Plans and Disaster recovery plans at the Group
    • Ensure all critical business systems are designed to meet defined business availability targets
    • Use domain knowledge and experience to define sufficient resilience for network, hardware, applications together with the accompanying disaster recovery plans
    • Ensure frequent data backups of critical IT systems (e.g. real time back up of changes made to critical data) are carried out to a separate storage location
    • Continuously test IT-Disaster Recovery arrangements to ensure that the business can continue to function and meet its regulatory obligations in the event of an unforeseen incidents or events

    Knowledge

    • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science or related field
    • Master’s degree in an appropriate field e.g. IT and Computer Science
    • Relevant Professional qualifications e.g. CISA, ITIL

    Experience

    • 10 years overall technology experience with over three (3) years in management preferably in a banking environment
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with good command of oral and written knowledge of English.

    Chief Data Officer

    A Bit About The Role

    Reporting directly into the Chief Executive Officer, this role will involve creating value through data exploitation as well as envisioning data-enabled strategies. Their ideal Chief Data Officer will get excited at the idea of enabling all forms of business outcomes through analytics, establishing data and analytics governance, and specifying an enterprise information policy.

    Requirements

    Your daily adventures include:

    • Take authority, responsibility, and accountability for exploiting the value of enterprise information assets, and of the analytics used to render insights for decision making, automated decisions and augmentation of human performance. Be the corporate leader of data-driven insights that help support the exploitation of strategic and tactical business opportunities
    • Work with board members and other executives to establish the vision for managing data as a business asset - to exploit data using research and analytics to maximize the return on data assets. Develop methods to ensure consistent application and use of analytics. Establish the governance of data and algorithms used for analysis, analytical applications and automated decision making
    • Define data and analytics strategy practices, lead the creation (and assure the ongoing relevance) of the firm’s data and analytics strategy in collaboration with the CIO, COO and CEO. Institute an enterprise operating model that is consistent with the capabilities and competencies required to execute the strategy
    • Oversee the development and deployment of the enterprise’s data and analytics platform for digital business
    • Lead research, strategy creation and development of new data products or services to expand markets, monetize data (directly and indirectly) and grow company revenue
    • Expand the organization’s research and analytics offerings, especially in emerging analytical approaches, skills, and technologies, focusing them on digital business innovation
    • Foster the creation of a data-driven culture, related competencies, and data literacy across the enterprise
    • Identify new kinds, types, and sources of data to enable business innovation throughout the organization. Create and oversee a centralized service for sourcing external data to ensure quality, traceability, timeliness, usability, and cost-effectiveness. Define processes for the effective, integrated introduction of new data

    What It Takes To Succeed

    • Understanding of cloud platforms and out of the box analytics tools (AWS and Azure, less GCP)
    • Understanding of different approaches/tools to use of unstructured and structured data for analytics (data virtualisation, NoSQL, data integration)
    • Clear evidence of disciplines of data governance (CDEs and data quality), data privacy, data analytics

    Knowledge

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
    • Master’s degree in an appropriate field
    • Relevant Professional qualifications

    Experience

    • 10 years overall experience with over three (3) years in management preferably in a banking environment
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with good command of oral and written knowledge of English.
