    Assistant Manager - Wholesale Financing/Special Projects

    Job Description

    • The officer will be responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing wholesale financing programs, debt facilities, and strategic lending frameworks targeting financial intermediaries such as SACCOs, microfinance institutions and cooperatives. The role is responsible for driving national development agendas, promoting financial inclusion and ensuring risk-mitigated credit deployment to institutional borrowers in order to deliver the Corporation’s mandate.

    Duties and Responsibilities;

    • Formulating and ensuring implementation and review of wholesale financing operational policies, systems, processes and procedures;
    • Overseeing credit assessment of the participating financial institutions borrowing from KDC and ensuring that the credit assessment and scoring reports are approved by the Board and used to ensure optimal credit management decisions are made;
    • Overseeing detailed refinancing project appraisal, in accordance with existing company policies and procedures;
    • Initiating authorization for bad loan provisions, loan restructuring, and disbursements following security perfection within the existing Corporation’s frameworks;
    • Developing and launching wholesale lending programs and revolving fund mechanisms for borrowers;
    • Identifying and managing a high-performing pipeline of institutional borrowers to meet annual disbursement targets;
    • Aligning all wholesale financing structures with national economic goals and regulatory mandates.
    • Leading rigorous institutional due diligence on intermediate borrowers' governance, operations, and capital adequacy.
    • Structuring complex debt facilities, collateral requirements and agreements to protect fund safety;
    • Presenting data-driven credit memoranda and risk assessments to the implementation committees for approval;
    • Identifying training needs for direct reports, mentoring and coaching staff;
    • Preparing management and Board reports periodically and as need arises;
    • Preparing departmental budgets and ensuring adequate budgetary controls;
    • Liaising with the Risk Management and Compliance department to continuously review facilities granted, to highlight changes in risk profile and undertake remedial or risk mitigation action if required;
    • Liaising with legal department and identified external agencies, to institute the necessary security perfection and refinanced loans recovery activities in cases of default;
    • Monitoring the financial health and covenant compliance of borrowing institutions;
    • Identifying early-warning signs of credit deterioration to implement timely risk mitigation strategies.

    Person Specifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Master’s degree in Finance, Development Finance, Economics, Project Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Professional Qualification in banking, finance, project management, investment banking or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
    • Membership to a relevant professional body e.g., Institute of Certified Accountants (ICPAK), Institute of Certified Financial Analysts (ICIFA), Institute of Bankers, or equivalent and in good standing; Credit certification or related fields.
    • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in corporate banking, development finance, institutional lending, or wholesale treasury operations;
    • At least three (3) years in a senior supervisory or management capacity overseeing credit programs, institutional portfolios, or DFI-funded programs;
    • Must have demonstrated ability to handle budgets, resources, processes, projects and relationships;
    • Demonstrated track record of successfully structuring debt facilities or wholesale lines of credit;
    • In-depth familiarity with the Kenyan financial sector, cooperative movement, microfinance landscape and public financial management regulations;

    Senior Officer - Wholesale Financing/Special Projects

    Job Description

    • The officer will be responsible for execution of rigorous credit appraisals, institutional due diligence, and financial monitoring of participating financial institutions, ensuring strict compliance with operational policies, risk frameworks, and security perfection timelines to support the growth and quality of the wholesale lending portfolio.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supporting the implementation and continuous review of wholesale financing operational policies, systems, processes, and procedures;
    • Conducting comprehensive credit assessments and scoring for participating financial institutions to inform board approval and credit management decisions.
    • Undertaking detailed project and refinancing appraisals in strict accordance with established Corporation’s policies.

    Person Specifications

    • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in finance or a relevant field;
    • Professional expertise and industry Knowledge of loan management and credit policy;
    • Proven track record in evaluating the financial health, governance, and asset quality of financial intermediaries, such as SACCOs, micro-lenders, or cooperatives;
    • Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with the banking sector regulations, SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) guidelines, and national development agendas;

    Property Management Officer

    Job Description

    • The officer will be responsible for the operational management of KDC’s property portfolio to enhance occupancy, revenue collection, service delivery, compliance and asset value.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities will entail: -

    • Administering leases, including negotiation, execution, renewal, rent review, variation, termination and tenant exit processes;
    • Maintaining an accurate lease register and ensuring that renewals, rent reviews and termination processes are initiated and concluded before lease expiry;
    • Maintaining a register of controlled tenancies and irregular occupancy arrangements and coordinating appropriate action with Legal Services;
    • Coordinating tenant onboarding, including due diligence, KYC documentation, deposits, lease execution, handover and opening of tenant accounts;
    • Monitoring rent, service charges, parking fees and other property income and following up delayed payments and outstanding arrears;

    Senior Property Management Officer

    Job Description

    • The officer will provide strategic, technical and supervisory leadership in the management and optimisation of KDC’s property portfolio.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -

    • Developing, implementing and reviewing property-management policies, strategies, procedures, annual work plans, budgets and performance targets;
    • Overseeing the complete lease-management cycle and ensuring that lease renewals, rent reviews, terminations and re-letting decisions are concluded before expiry;
    • Overseeing the identification and management of controlled tenancies, expired leases, irregular occupancy and tenancy disputes in liaison with Legal Services;

    Legal Officer (2 Posts)

    Job Description

    • This will be an operational grade for advocates with practical litigation and commercial legal experience. An officer at this level will be expected to independently handle routine litigation, dispute resolution and commercial legal assignments while escalating complex or high-risk matters as appropriate.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-

    • Conducting legal analysis of disputes involving the Corporation and advise on appropriate legal interventions and litigation strategies;
    • Independently prepare, review, file and serve pleadings, witness statements, affidavits, submissions, legal opinions and other court documents;
    • Representing the Corporation before courts, tribunals, quasi-judicial bodies and alternative dispute resolution forums where authorized.
    • Managing routine litigation matters in-house, including developing case strategies, preparing witnesses, complying with procedural requirements and ensuring that matters are prosecuted or defended expeditiously.
    • Coordinating and monitoring litigation handled by external advocates, including reviewing legal strategies, monitoring performance against agreed service levels and verifying legal fees and disbursements;
    • Attending court proceedings and monitor the progress of cases to ensure timely prosecution and defence of matters, compliance with court directions and adherence to statutory timelines;
    • Advising on the enforcement and realization of securities including legal charges, mortgages, debentures, guarantees, liens, assignments and other collateral in accordance with applicable law;
    • Preparing, reviewing and issuing statutory notices relating to debt recovery, realization of securities and other legal enforcement processes;

    • Collaborating with internal departments to ensure legal compliance, facilitate recovery initiatives and provide practical and timely legal support on operational matters;

    Person Specifications

    • A Bachelor's Degree in Laws (LL.B) from a recognized institution;
    • A Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
    • Be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
    • Hold a valid practising certificate;
    • Be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Kenya;
    • Have at least three (3) years’ post-admission experience in active litigation gained in a busy law firm or a financial institution, with demonstrable experience in commercial litigation, debt recovery, securities enforcement or banking and finance law;
    • Demonstrate practical experience in independently preparing pleadings and court documents, attending court and managing litigation files;
    • Demonstrate experience in drafting and reviewing routine commercial agreements and other legal instruments;
    • Demonstrate agility in responding to urgent litigation, recovery, contractual and operational assignments within prescribed timelines;
    • Proficiency in computer applications;
    •  Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
