    Laboratory Technologist III

    Job Group ‘H’

    No of positions: 4

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Cleaning and sterilizing laboratory glass ware, surfaces and equipment;
    • Carrying out chemical/microbiological analysis on samples (food, water, waste waters and beverages)
    • Extracting, isolating and identifying drugs, pesticides and heavy metals from biological and miscellaneous samples
    • Preparing laboratory reagents;
    • Documenting and receiving samples for analysis; and disposing laboratory waste.

    Requirements for Appointment

    Biomedical Engineer

    Job Group ‘K’

    No of Positions: 2

    • Reporting to the Hospital Engineer – Biomedical, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring proper functioning, safety and sound condition of all medical equipment at ICU & Theatre, and that they are in optimum working condition and available for use at all times amongst the following other responsibilities;
    • Ensure all bio-medical equipment in ICU and Theatre are included on the Preventive Maintenance Master Schedule.
    • Ensure on schedule preventive maintenance, and timely repairs to ICU and Theatres to eliminate downtime.
    • Maintain files and records of all job cards, PPM schedules and tasks as performed.
    • Timely handling of all biomedical equipment job requests in ICU and Theatre.
    • Ensure continuous training of Bio-medical equipment users and to ensure safe machine handling.
    • Evaluate the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of medical equipment, report and implement recommendations.
    • Identify gaps and risks in biomedical equipment and share with head of department for execution.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Requirement for appointment

    • Degree in Bio -Medical Engineering from a recognized institution with atleast 2 years’ experience in a maintenance function in a busy facility, or a Higher diploma in Biomedical engineering with atleast 2 years’ experience in a busy ICU.
    • Demonstrated experience in Maintenance management.
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience, in a maintenance function in a busy hospital industry.
    • Proven two years’ experience in ICU & Theatre.
    • Excellent organizational, decision-making and planning skills.
    • Good interpersonal and customer relation skills.
    • Computer literacy skills with demonstrated knowledge.

    Physiotherapist

    Job Group ‘K’

    No of Positions: 2

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level entail;-

    • Treating and rehabilitating patients/clients using Physiotherapy interventions i.e. electrotherapy, manipulative therapy/technology, exercise therapy among others in clinical areas and the community;
    • Planning and organizing group Physiotherapy treatment/sessions for patients and clients; evaluating treatment outcomes for review, placement, referral or discharge;
    • Initiating community disability  assessment outreach programs;
    • Liaising with other stakeholders in providing appropriate advice to patients/clients on exercise, posture and movement;
    • Providing health promotion and education to patients/clients on neuromuscular skeletal disorders and health;
    • Maintaining an up-to-date data base for Physiotherapy services for input in to the integrated health information system;
    • Inducting students on practical training on physiotherapy services;
    • Requisitioning and ensuring availability and proper utilization of Physiotherapy supplies and equipment as well as giving support and health education to patients and relatives in hospital; analyzing data and preparing reports; and
    • Coaching and mentoring of staff.

    Requirement for appointment

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

    • Bachelors degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution with a 2 years’ experience in a busy ICU;
    • Higher Diploma in Orthopedic Manual Therapy or its equivalent qualification form a recognized institution with a 3 years’ experience in a busy ICU;
    • Certificate of Registration form the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK);
    • Current Certificate of Practice from Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK);

    Registered Nurses (ICU Nurses)

    Job Group ‘K’

    No of Positions: 10

    Responsibilities

    • An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:
    • Deliver professional health services including provision of Critical Care Nursing Services which adheres to the facilities’ policies and procedures;
    • Ensure operational readiness of Critical Care Nursing Services, equipment, instrument, and professional equipment
    • Orient other nurses with the layout of the Critical Care department and provide guidance on the duties activated in an emergency.
    • Assist with orientation for incoming personnel
    • Ensure the highest standards of clinical governance in the provision of Critical Care Nursing Services.
    • Conduct a check of the controlled drugs.
    • Operate within the context of the facility’s Mass Casualty Incident Plan in the designated role, or in other roles as directed by the Project Manager or designee.

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must: -

    • A Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a critical/ intensive care nurse
    • Diploma in Nursing, or its equivalent.
    • Current registration as a Registered Nurse.
    • Postgraduate qualification in Critical/Intensive Care Nursing.
