    Principal Accountant

    FINANCE AND ICT DIRECTORATE

    ACCOUNTS SECTION (FINANCIAL REPORTING/PAYABLES)

    GRADE REREC 4 (1 POST)

    Job Specification

    • Monitoring expenditures based on approved budgets;
    • Ensuring safe custody of Corporation’s financial records and assets;
    • Overseeing the accounting of special funds including donor and project funds;
    • Managing Corporation cash flows;
    • Ensuring security of cheques and cheque books and other accountable documents;
    • Maintaining up-to-date books of accounts;
    • Overseeing submission of statutory deductions;
    • Coordinating the preparation of responses to audit queries and PIC inquiries;
    • Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for the Corporation;
    • Ensuring timely preparation, review and Approval of bank reconciliation statements
    • Interpreting regulations of the Corporation pertaining to financial control and management;
    • Coordinating preparation of budgets and work plans for the section;
    • Ensuring provision of accurate, timely and reliable financial information;
    • Ensuring timely submission of annual financial statements of accounts;
    • Iinterpreting of financial policies for sound accounting principles, practices and control and management of PAYE, VAT and other statutory deductions;
    • Verifying Payment vouchers and Staff Imprests in accordance with the laid down Financial procedures, policies and regulations; and
    • Review of bank reconciliation statements.

    Person Specifications

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

    • A minimum of eight (8) years’ relevant work experience and at least three (3) in a supervisory role in the Public Service or Private Sector;
    • Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: Business Administration (Finance or Accounting option) or equivalent qualifications from a recognized University or institution;
    • Bachelors degree in any of the following: Commerce, Business Administration (Finance or Accounting option), Business Management or other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
    • Passed Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination/ACCA affiliate Exams;
    • Membership in good standing of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or any other recognized professional body;
    • Certificate in Management Course lasting not less than our (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
    • Proficiency in computer applications;
    • Demonstrated competence in work performance; and
    • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution;

    Principal Cartographer

    STRATEGY AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORATE

    CARTOGRAPHY SECTION

    GRADE REREC 4 (1 POST)

    Job Specifications

    • Formulating, developing and reviewing standards and frameworks for cartography;
    • Implementing policies, strategies, standards and programmes on cartography;
    • Ensuring projects drawings meet cartographic specifications including clarity and completeness;
    • Approving working drawings for design projects;
    • Managing spatial databases to ensure availability of working drawings for successful implementation of projects;
    • Coordinating conversion and uploading of drawings into SAP system;
    • Ensuring submission of drawings for completed projects to Kenya Power for commissioning;
    • Approving and releasing contracted cartographers documents to facilitate payments;
    • Ensuring Mapping the assets, projects and other properties; and information for the Corporation Master plan;
    • Providing advice and guidance on matters pertaining to cartography; 
    • Coordinating mapping of proposed transmission and distribution networks location including primary and secondary feeding substations along the proposed routes;
    • Coordinating the compilation and documentation of projects technical reports on cartography;
    • Liaise with other departments/sections and Government Agencies and private entities on matters pertaining on cartography;
    • Managing human, financial and material resources assigned to the section;
    • Preparing budget and ensure budgetary control for the section;
    • Ensuring supportive working environment to foster optimum performance;
    • Monitoring section performance and initiate necessary interventions; and
    • Prepare reports on Cartographic programmes and projects.

    Person Specification

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

    • A minimum period of eight (8) year’s relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in supervisory role in a position in public service or private sector;
    • Bachelors degree in any of the following: Geographical Information Services, Cartography or its equivalent qualification from recognized institution;
    • Masters degree in any of the following: Geographical Information Services, Cartography or equivalent qualification from recognized institution;
    • Registered member of Institution of Surveyors of Kenya;
    • Certificate in management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
    • Proficiency in Computer Applications;
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and
    • Fulfilled the requirements of the Chapter Six of the Constitution.
