    Control Room Operator- Mombasa

    Purpose:

    The Control Room Operator will operate the plant and maintain system parameters to ensure product quality is maintained and ensure zero undetectable deviation.

    Responsibilities:

    • Monitor the electrical transmission and distribution system, as well as the entire Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for proper oil extraction operation, under minimal supervision.
    • Follow standard operating procedures for safe start up and shutdown of the oil extraction plant.
    • Ensure pre-start up, start up, operational, and shut down checklists are completed before plant operations commence.
    • Utilize SCADA data to coordinate field fault diagnostics and manual operations.
    • Ensure the cleanliness of the working area.
    • Answer emergency trouble calls and other types of after-hours phone-calls and determine appropriate actions.
    • Recall on-call maintenance teams to facilitate repairs on emergency trouble calls occurring outside of normal working hours, weekends, or holidays.
    • Maintain various operational records and logs and produce operational reports.
    • Oversee the flow of information and reports, coordinate actions when necessary, and ensure response plans are followed during emergencies and natural disasters.
    • Interface closely with the operations In-charge and maintenance to ensure key operational matters are performed, communicated and documented.
    • Monitor and oversee the primary electrical system using SCADA, receive system alarms to locate trouble areas.
    • Maintain a log of operations to reflect any/all system concerns and operational actions taken.
    • Identify SCADA operational malfunctions, request corrective actions, and report uncorrected malfunctions.
    • Follow standard procedures and switching orders in accordance with standard operating and safe switching practices.
    • Ensure smooth transition of position during shift operations.
    • Using drawings, trace and determine facilities affected by outages, and then notify the shift in-charge.
    • Comply with all HSE safety regulations and adhere to proper codes and standards with a thorough understanding of safety procedures related to Electrical Systems.
    • Handle any other duties assigned by management from time to time.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering
    • A Minimum of 3 years related work experience.
    • Fluent knowledge of English.
    • 2 years operator experience in vegetable oil extraction plant.
    • Firefighting & HSE basic courses preferred.
    • Experience with troubleshooting of plant upsets and taking corrective action.
    • Experience with reading and logging SCADA information.
    • Experience with shift report writing.

    Quality Checker

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Participate in testing samples provided by commercial agencies.
    • Collect and analyze product samples to determine quality compliance before receiving and storing them.
    • Work as a member of the quality control team, checking and recording parameters at critical control points and taking corrective action when necessary.
    • Ensure that products meet the established quality standards set by the company.
    • Prepare reports, compile and maintain records on product quality status, tests, and inspections conducted.
    • Perform testing in accordance with the company’s Quality Control System.
    • Ensure the correct quality processes are followed and provide training as needed.
    • Clean, sterilize, calibrate, and maintain equipment and apparatus used in all tests and analysis.
    • Ensure production requirements are met while adhering to safe work practices and procedures.
    • Analyze test data and take corrective action to prevent non-conforming products.
    • Assist in documentation and data control.
    • Care for and maintain testing equipment, including calibration.

    Job Qualifications & Experience:

    • Must have at least a Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or any other relevant field.
    • Must have 2 years of working experience as a QC/Lab analyst, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    • Knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, terminology, and procedures.
    • HSE basic courses (preferred).

    Field Officers ( Kitui & Machakos)

    • Collaborating with the Agricultural Development Assistant to define environmental and geo-pedological characteristics for the development of vegetable oil production initiatives (bio feedstock).
    • Analyzing local agricultural contexts and production systems in the County.
    • Building the capacity of local communities to sustainably manage bio feedstock agricultural resources.
    • Developing partnerships and synergy with government departments, NGOs, and other institutions involved in agricultural development.
    • Supporting other company initiatives contributing to agriculture development, such as environmental awareness and communication campaigns.
    • Identifying, profiling, and supporting farmer cooperatives, Farmer Field Schools (FFS), and farmer groups in the county.
    • Provide for weekly, monthly and quarterly reports in the agreed format and according to organizational deadlines.
    • Participate actively in weekly, monthly and quarterly staff meetings.
    • Participate in routine and annual stakeholder consultations and workshops in furtherance of the work of the organization.
    • Develop mutually beneficial partnerships, teamwork and synergy with relevant government departments, NGOs and other institutions involved in agricultural development work in the project  area.
    • Stakeholder relations skills, with particular reference to local communities.
    • Support other company initiatives (environmental awareness, communications campaigns, local content, etc.) which contribute to agriculture development as requested.
    • Share and present the organizations Grievance Mechanism process in stakeholder, farmers and community meetings.
    • Receive, investigate, forward to vendors and ensure vendors close out all vendor related grievances, raised by affected communities, in a timely, fair and consistent manner. 
    • Responsible for receiving and documenting all grievances at the field level and forwarding them to the agriculture development manager. 
    • Any other duties as directed by the line manager.

    Qualifications:

    • Must have a relevant diploma in Agricultural Sciences, Agriculture and Agri-business value chains, Environmental Engineering, or Natural Sciences. 
    • Must have a valid motorcycle license & off-road motorcycle driving experience.
    • A bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage. 
    • Experience in agricultural and agro forestry development projects.
    • Must have Extensive knowledge of the counties, with a preference for local candidates.
    • A minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role or field.
    • Bio feedstock and local content experience is desirable.
    • Previous NGO or private sector work experience in rural development.
    • Must be a native of the county applying for with fluency in local dialect spoken in the county applied for.  

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Farmer participatory approaches, project planning & implementation, data collection & analysis, field-level training, communication (both verbal & written).

    Field Officer- Baringo

    JOB SUMMARY:

    To Assist the Agriculture development manager with the management of green initiatives in the client’s “Agri-Hub project. This post works directly with farmers on a day to day basis to ensure compliance and coordination of bio-fuel agriculture development activities in the county. It requires a solid agricultural technical background and field training experience as well as ability to interact with government officers, private sector players, and other NGO partners. This position requires a direct bio feedstock value chain experience.

    Job Responsibilities.

    • In close working relationship with the agricultural development assistant, support the agricultural development manager in defining the environmental and geo-pedological characteristics for the development of vegetable oil production initiatives (bio feedstock).
    • Support the analysis of local agricultural contexts in Baringo County and agricultural production systems in rural areas of the county.
    • Build the capacity of the local communities to boost and manage their bio feedstock agricultural resources sustainably.
    • To develop mutually beneficial partnerships, teamwork and synergy with relevant government departments, NGOs and other institutions involved in agricultural development work in the project area.

    Job Qualifications.

    • Experience in agricultural and agroforestry development projects, analysis of existing supply chains and production potential of agricultural biomass also for industrial use.
    • Ability to design and manage large-scale agricultural and agroforestry interventions.
    • Knowledge of agricultural and agro-forestry production systems, with particular reference to contract farming mechanisms and/or agro- industrial initiatives
