Leaders with Intrepid

In East Africa, tours are delivered by Independent Freelance Group Leaders, who are passionate about their countries, have excellent people skills, and solve problems quickly. You’re there to inspire our travellers and to help them fall in love with their destination by immersing them in your local culture and exposing them to true real-life experiences.  Our leaders don’t just recite from a guidebook, they use their passion for their community to educate and get the destination into the hearts of our travellers – so they want to return, again and again.

With Intrepid you’ll be ensuring that the work you do has meaning, as Intrepid focuses on giving back and investing in your local community, which is why we use local leaders, local operators and ensure we give back into the destination at every opportunity.

Services required per trip:

1. Leading tours in an organized and professional manner group tours across a range of trips
2. Sharing with travellers the local knowledge acquired of the destination; and continuing to build your knowledge through continual research and interaction with suppliers and communities visited.
3. Providing and updating leader information, trip, and supplier notes and other general administrative duties related to the trip
4. Keeping up to date with recent costings and provide information of the trip.
5.  Staying informed on current Intrepid policy and guidelines and brand requirements around responsible tourism.
6. Ensuring the safety and well-being of travellers by leading trips in accordance with Intrepid safety policy and taking preventative measures to ensure the safety of group members.
7.  Reporting any safety incidents to relevant contact of Intrepid.
8. Promoting responsible travel and sustainable practices acting as a role model for other leaders and travellers and by demonstrating respect for local people, cultures, customs, and environment.
9. Facilitating interaction between local communities and travellers.

To be successful as a Leader with Intrepid you will require:

1. Tour guiding/management diploma from a recognized institution
2. Level 2 Senior First Aid Certificate (must be completed prior to commencement)
3. Tour Guide License
4. Police Clearance
5. Valid Passport for six months
6. COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
7. Sound leadership skills with the ability to work independently and problem solve
8. To be physically fit and healthy to withstand the combination of long hours, and often mentally and physically challenging conditions

You will have strong customer service and experience developing a rapport with a broad range of individuals and groups. Cooks with Intrepid 

In East Africa, tours are delivered by Independent Freelance Group Leaders, and as a Cook with Intrepid you will partner with them to ensure that our customers are taken care of while travelling with Intrepid. 

You will take ownership of all hot meals, food preparation, and portions to ensure that our travellers are provided with delicious meals that will take their experience with Intrepid to the next level! Your main responsibilities will be the preparing and portioning of a variety of meals, budget, and menu planning, hygiene, and cleanliness, managing equipment and camping materials as well as ensuring dietary requirements are always met and working to ensure every guest is left with a positive experience. 

With Intrepid you will be ensuring that the work you do has meaning, as Intrepid focuses on giving back and investing in your local community, which is why use local cooks, leaders, local operators and ensure we give back into the destination at every opportunity. 

To be successful as a Cook with Intrepid you will require: 

1. Health & Safety certificate 
2. Police Clearance 
3. Valid passport for six months 
4. COVID-19 vaccination Certificate  
5. Chef Certification (not essential but preferred) 
6. Ability to conduct Customer needs assessment to fulfil dietary requirements 
7. Well versed in preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of food  
8. Highly experienced in following sanitation guidelines for food preparation 
9. Exceptional understanding of performing quality inspections to ensure that the quality of food is good  
10. Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift to 40 pounds & work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours). 
11. Be willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed 

You will have an amazing attitude and be able to communicate clearly with our customers, managers, and team members, be able to read and follow recipes without supervision and most importantly be commitment to Intrepid’s responsible travel philosophy and share in our core values of integrity, innovation, fun, passion, growth, and responsibility.

Drivers with Intrepid 

Intrepid tours are delivered by Independent Freelance Group Leaders, and as a Driver with Intrepid you will partner with them to ensure that our customers are taken care of while travelling with us.  Your main responsibility will be to ensure the safe transportation of our travellers to and from various destinations, assisting them on entry and exit from vehicles as needed and to act as a company ambassador when dealing with customers. 

You will ensure the vehicles are kept free from damage, clean, and ensure the vehicle is in proper safe condition to drive, following specified routes, working to time schedules and always complying with traffic regulations to ensure our customers have a smooth and safe ride will be your top priorities. 

With Intrepid you will be ensuring that the work you do has meaning, as Intrepid focuses on giving back and investing in your local community, which is why use local cooks, leaders, local operators and ensure we give back into the destination at every opportunity. 

To be successful as a Driver with Intrepid you will require: 

• Driver’s License and good driving record. 
• Defensive driving skills 
• Demonstrate dependability and self-motivation.  
• Be able to frequently lift up to 100 lbs.  
• Read, write, understand, and communicate clearly in English. 
• Exhibit leadership skills (primarily when assigned as Team Leader for on-call duties).  
• Maintain high level of personal integrity and reliability. 
• Maintain good physical condition that will enable Driver to stoop, bend, twist, and perform other motions, requiring strength and endurance when performing manual labour indoors or outdoors - 

You will be dependable, exhibit great leadership skills while being readily adaptable to changes as we come across them and have an absolute commitment to delivering the best possible customer experience. But more importantly, you will have a commitment to Intrepid’s responsible travel philosophy and share in our core values of integrity, innovation, fun, passion, growth, and responsibility.
