    National Technical Expert (deputy team leader)

    Project Duration: 44 Expert months

    Application deadline: 21st July 2020

    • Identification of demands from MSME, Start-ups and smallholders for improved access to inputs, services and markets
    • Identification of direct and indirect local income and employment potentials especially for women and young people in relevant input and service sectors in selected value chains.
    • Selection of (innovative, employment and demand oriented) inputs and services to be promoted.
    • Identification and development of business models for demand-oriented inputs and services as well as the access models to ensure the target groups will benefit from improved access
    • Piloting of the selected inputs and services as sustainable business models
    • Support access to financing for the promoted business models and their clients
    • Up-scaling of the tested business models and setting up of access models with the clients/target group, including networking of the established services with value chain actors (and supported MSME, smallholders/cooperatives and start-ups in action field 2), support to establishment on the market, establishment of business relationships in the funded value chains and sectors etc.
    • Setting up of inclusive contract farming or out grower schemes as access models to increase access to inputs, services and markets especially for small holders/cooperatives
    • Access to land and public financial services will be mainly supported by RYE, however, the contractor will be called to actively contribute in the frame of activities under the responsibility of the contractor.
    • Qualification of smallholders/cooperatives and ToT (training providers, extension service etc.) within the framework of cooperation with the private sector, e.g. on GAPs, certification / organic farming, quality standards, hygiene, innovation/diversification, entrepreneurship, marketing skills, etc.
    • Supporting professionalization of (youth) cooperatives and producer groups (e.g. joint buying/selling and saving/lending, transparent administration, and registration procedures, thereby improving access to training, markets, financing, advice, inputs, etc.
    • Development and application (including ToT) of demand-oriented training material (for supported input and service providers as well as the training of farmers and producer groups.

    Requirements

    • University qualification in agriculture, agribusiness, economy or related fields
    • Language: English (CEFRL: C1), Suaheli (CEFRL: C1).
    • General professional experience: Agricultural Value Chain Development, Agricultural production.
    • Specific professional experience: services around agriculture, contract farming, cooperation with the private sector, farmer organizations,
    • 5 years of Leadership/management experience.

    Short Term Experts

    Consultancy Position: Short Term Experts

    Project Duration: 20 Expert Months

    Specific Tasks

    • Digitization of selected core modules of ATVET trainings through co-creation with relevant actors (target group, private sector, etc.)
    • Advising on the creation, anchoring and dissemination of a digital catalogue of all ATVET curricula, teaching manuals and materials made available to rural training centers.
    • Contributing to the development of innovative consulting services.
    • Development of complementary digital applications in co-creation with relevant actors for youth-friendly consulting services of existing public and private service providers such as youth organizations at district level, private companies, for institutes, etc. based on the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) of the districts, including aspects of environmental protection, climate relevance and sustainable land use.

     Requirements

    Qualification 

    •  University degree(Bachelor/Master) in agricultural economics, vocational education and training, IT/ICT4 Development or impact-oriented monitoring
    • Language : Very good knowledge of English (C1)

    Agricultural Value Chain & Private Sector Promotion Specialist

    Project Duration: 16 Expert Months

    Specific Tasks

    • Taking stock and analysing the value chains to be promoted and pre-selected.
    • Taking stock and assessing the actors involved.
    • Follow-up support for successful  graduates with BDS in selected WSK in cooperation with agricultural training centers and youth organizations.
    • Implementation/organization of needs-based qualification packages with certified private sector-recognised qualifications for young people in selected WSK (agripreneurship, production techniques, etc.) by age group (under and over 23 years) by ATVET and other institutions including incentive systems for disadvantaged target groups/youth champions.
    • Innovation in innovative advisory approaches in the agri-food sector (private sector, civil society, peer-to-peer, ICT platforms (co-creation) and mass media.
    • Co-ordinating in the development of and following private sector advice to improve the range of products and services especially for young entrepreneurs (standards, needs, etc)

    Requirements

    • B.Sc. or higher in economics or comparable subject area
    • Language : English (C1), Swahili (B2), Luo or Luhya (B1)
    • 10 years of experience in rural private sector support, agricultural advise.
    • 5 years of experience in competence-based education and training and advice to increase employability, e-extension
    • 2 years of management experience.

    Team Leader

    Project Duration: 16 Expert Months

    Specific Tasks

    • Ensuring the coherence and complementarity of the performance with other achievements of the programme at local and national level.
    • Conception, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of measures for the capacity development of local partners in the following areas:

    o   Advising partner institutions, training centres, district governments, youth organizations,      financial institutions and relevant companies; responsibility for developing the concept of education and training aimed at improving employability and employment opportunities and the agri-food sector.

    • Ensuring the compatibility of project management. 
    • Considering cross-cutting issues  (e.g. gender equality).
    • Identification of short-term deployments  within the available budget, planning and management of operations and support for local and international short-term staff.
    • Ensure impact monitoring.
    • Support preparation and adaptation of the operational plan, project-relevant research and in the preparation and implementation of an internal evaluation/preparation of a follow-up project.
    • Responsibility for controlling the use of funds and financial planning in consultation with officer responsible for the commission.

    Requirements

    • 5 years of management experience as a team leader in projects or management in companies

    Vocational Training Specialist
