    Production Supervisor

    About the Role

    • Our client, a leading manufacturer in the food processing industry, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Production Supervisor to oversee daily factory operations. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production, maintaining high product quality standards, optimizing production processes, and fostering a safe and productive work environment.
    • The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience supervising manufacturing teams, and a solid understanding of production planning, quality control, and continuous improvement.

    Key Responsibilities

    Production Supervision & Team Leadership

    • Supervise, coach, and support production staff to achieve daily production targets.
    • Prepare work schedules and allocate resources effectively.
    • Monitor employee performance and provide training and development where needed.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

    Production Operations Management

    • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily manufacturing activities.
    • Ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining efficiency and quality.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Production Management, Industrial Engineering, Food Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
    • Relevant manufacturing experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.
    • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the food processing industry.

    Solvent Extraction Supervisor

    Role Purpose

    • The Solvent Extraction Supervisor will manage the safe, efficient and consistent operation of the solvent extraction plant.
    • The role is accountable for production output, oil recovery, meal quality, solvent efficiency, plant availability and compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Plant Operations & Process Control

    • Supervise daily solvent extraction operations from preparation/flaking through extraction, de-solventizing, solvent recovery and oil/meal handling.
    • Monitor critical process parameters including temperature, pressure, flow, level, throughput and equipment performance.
    • Maintain stable plant operations to achieve production, oil recovery, solvent efficiency and quality targets.
    • Monitor extraction efficiency and identify areas of process loss.
    • Identify process abnormalities early, troubleshoot issues and take corrective action to minimize downtime and losses.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving plant efficiency and process performance.

    Shift & Team Management

    • Lead shift operators and allocate manpower appropriately.
    • Ensure effective shift handovers and communication of outstanding operational issues.
    • Ensure operators comply with SOPs, safety instructions and approved operating parameters.
    • Train and guide operators on plant operations, safety and troubleshooting.
    • Maintain strong operating discipline and escalate significant process, equipment or safety issues appropriately.

    Safety, Quality & Compliance

    • Ensure strict compliance with safety requirements, particularly relating to hexane and other flammable solvent handling and hazardous areas.
    • Monitor solvent leakage, vapour and abnormal solvent losses.
    • Ensure compliance with PPE, Permit-to-Work, LOTO, housekeeping and emergency-response requirements.
    • Ensure safe isolation and preparation of equipment before maintenance work.
    • Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure extracted oil and meal meet approved quality specifications.
    • Investigate process, quality and safety deviations and implement corrective actions.

    Maintenance Coordination & Reporting

    • Monitor plant equipment condition and coordinate corrective action with Maintenance.
    • Support shutdowns, preventive maintenance and safe preparation of equipment for maintenance.
    • Participate in investigation of recurring equipment and process failures.
    • Maintain accurate production, process, breakdown, safety and quality records.
    • Prepare accurate shift reports and communicate key plant deviations and corrective actions to management.

    Requirements
    Qualifications & Experience

    • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Food Science/Food Technology, Oilseed Technology, Process Technology, Production/Manufacturing Engineering or another related technical discipline.
    • 5–8 years' relevant experience in solvent extraction, vegetable oil manufacturing, oilseed processing or edible oil production.
    • Hands-on experience with hexane-based solvent extraction is mandatory.
    • Previous experience supervising operators or production teams within a process plant environment is preferred.
    • Willingness to work in shifts is required.

    Mechanical Supervisor/Mechanical Lead – Animal Feed & Solvent Extraction Plant

    Role Purpose

    • The Mechanical Supervisor / Mechanical Lead will lead mechanical maintenance, reliability and engineering activities across the Animal Feed and Solvent Extraction Plant.
    • The primary objective is to reduce plant breakdowns and downtime, improve equipment reliability and availability, ensure readiness of critical spares and manpower, and support continuous improvement in plant safety, performance and production efficiency.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead preventive, predictive, corrective and breakdown maintenance across the plant.
    • Oversee maintenance of hammer mills, roller mills, pellet mills, mixers, conditioners, conveyors, elevators, flakers, expanders, cookers, extractors, DTDC, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, fans, blowers, heat exchangers and related plant equipment.
    • Conduct breakdown analysis, troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement permanent corrective actions.
    • Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
    • Monitor equipment condition and identify potential failures before breakdown.
    • Plan and maintain critical mechanical spares and equipment history records.
    • Supervise fitters, technicians, welders, fabricators and contractors to ensure productivity, workmanship and adequate manpower availability.
    • Manage equipment installation, alignment, fabrication, modification, commissioning and improvement projects.
    • Coordinate with Production, Electrical, Procurement, Stores and HSE teams to support uninterrupted plant operations.
    • Support shutdown planning, execution and equipment start-up.
    • Ensure strict compliance with LOTO, Permit-to-Work, hot-work, confined-space and other plant safety requirements.
    • Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for improved maintenance efficiency.
    • Drive improvement in MTBF, MTTR, plant uptime and equipment reliability.
    • Prepare maintenance KPIs, downtime analysis, maintenance reports and continuous improvement plans.

    Requirements

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution; OR
    • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering supported by strong relevant plant maintenance and equipment reliability experience.
    • 5–8+ years' relevant mechanical maintenance experience within a process plant environment.
    • Supervisory or managerial maintenance experience is preferred.
    • Experience within Animal Feed, Solvent Extraction, Oilseed Processing, Edible Oil or similar process manufacturing environments will be a strong advantage.
    • Candidates should meet applicable Kenyan professional registration requirements where required.

    Technical Competencies
    Candidates should demonstrate strong hands-on knowledge of:

    • Rotating equipment.
    • Pumps, gearboxes and bearings.

    Veterinary & Animal Nutrition Technical Officer

    Role Purpose

    • The Veterinary & Animal Nutrition Technical Officer will provide practical field support on animal health, nutrition, feed performance and customer complaints.
    • The role will work closely with Sales, Quality, Production, Nutrition and Operations teams to identify root causes of animal/feed performance issues and recommend practical, customer-focused solutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Visit farms and customers to investigate feed, animal health and performance issues.
    • Provide appropriate feed recommendations for dairy, poultry, swine and other livestock.
    • Work alongside Sales teams during customer visits, product trials and technical discussions.
    • Investigate customer complaints and establish potential nutritional, animal-health, feed or farm-management causes.
    • Collect samples and coordinate investigations with Quality, Laboratory, Production and Nutrition teams.
    • Prepare comprehensive technical reports with clear findings, conclusions and recommended corrective actions.
    • Follow up implementation and effectiveness of agreed corrective actions.

    • Identify recurring field issues and provide feedback to internal teams for corrective or improvement action.

    Requirements
    Qualifications & Experience

    • Degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Livestock Production or a related discipline.
    • 5–7 years' experience within the animal feed industry.
    • Practical experience working with dairy, poultry and swine is essential.
    • Good knowledge of animal nutrition, feed ingredients and livestock production.
    • Relevant Kenyan veterinary or animal nutrition professional registration is required.
    • Experience handling customer complaints, farm investigations and technical advisory assignments is desirable.

    Feed Technical Officer - Animal Feeds

     Role Purpose

    • The Feed Technical Officer will provide practical technical support on animal feed products, livestock feeding and product performance. The role will support customers and farmers while working closely with Sales, Quality, Production and Operations teams to address technical issues and improve customer experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide technical guidance to customers and farmers on appropriate feed usage and livestock feeding practices.
    • Conduct farm and customer visits together with Sales and other technical teams.
    • Support investigation and resolution of feed-related customer complaints.
