Job Purpose:
Lead the development team in developing and deploying digital channel and business software solutions, including system integrations. Guide the team through the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through build, testing, deployment and support, ensuring that every solution is fit for purpose, secure and maintainable. Set and enforce the technical standards, coding practices and architectural principles the team builds against, and provide hands-on technical leadership by reviewing designs and code, unblocking complex technical problems, and mentoring developers to raise the overall engineering capability of the team. Own the technical quality and delivery reliability of the team's output, balancing speed of delivery with long-term maintainability, and act as the technical escalation point for integration, performance and production issues affecting the digital channel and business systems in scope.
Key responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Provide: Technical leadership across digital channel development projects, guiding the team on architecture, integration design and technology choices for web, mobile and USSD platforms, and ensuring solutions scale reliably for customer and partner usage.
- Adherence to Coding Standards: Monitor the consistency of code with established coding standards and best practices.
- SDLC: Adhere to the SDLC and ensure all development gate processes and deliverables are met.
- Solution Architecture: Provide solutions architecture and detailed system designs and ensure that all developed solutions adhere to Britam's enterprise architecture.
- Technical Skills Development: Assess the developer's commitment to improving technical skills through certifications, training, or the completion of relevant courses.
Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:
Academic qualifications and certifications:
- Degree in Computer Science or a technical-related field
Experience:
- 4+ years' experience in application development, including system customization and report designs.
- 3+ years' experience managing or leading development teams.
- 4+ years working with middleware technologies e.g., Github, Azure Integration Services, WSO2.
- 4+ years' experience with RDBMS & NoSQL databases.
- 4+ years of development experience in native mobile application development.
- 4+ years' experience with SPA frameworks e.g. Angular, React, Flutter, Vue JS etc.

Job Purpose:
To provide supervised operational and administrative support to the underwriting team by assisting with the review of proposal forms, verification of client documentation, data capture, policy documentation, and routine follow-up activities while gaining practical exposure to underwriting processes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in reviewing proposal forms and client documentation for completeness, accuracy, KYC requirements, and adherence to underwriting guidelines before escalation to senior underwriters.
- Support data capture, booking of approved retail policies, and issuance of motor certificates in line with approved procedures and supervision.
- Verify and organize underwriting records, including proposal forms, policy schedules, endorsements, valuation reports, and related documents in the document management system.
- Prepare routine policy documents, endorsements, renewal notices, and customer correspondence for review and approval by the supervising underwriter.
- Assist in tracking referred risks, pending renewals, endorsements, and outstanding requirements to support timely turnaround and service delivery..
- Respond to routine customer, branch, and intermediary queries under guidance, escalating technical or complex matters to senior underwriters.
- Support preparation and dispatch of debit notes, credit notes, and related communication in line with credit control procedures.
- Compile basic underwriting data and reports to assist senior underwriters in risk review, workflow monitoring, and automation process improvement activities.
- Observe delegated authority limits and ensure all underwriting decisions, approvals, and exceptions are referred to the appropriate authorized officers.
- Perform any other learning and operational support duties assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the internship role.
