    Sacco Chief Audit and Compliance Officer

    CHIEF AUDIT AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER (REF: CACO/04/24)

    Job Purpose:

    The Chief Audit and Compliance Officer will be responsible for conducting independent, impartial, and objective internal audit exercises and liaising with External Auditors during Interim and Final Audits, analyzing business policies, processes, and procedures, and ensuring compliance.

    Reporting to the Head of Audit and Compliance or to the CEO administratively but functionally to the Board.

    Job Type: Contract – Two (2) Years

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Promoting the highest standards of ethics and standards in the SACCO society based on principles of professionalism, integrity, objectivity, competence, and confidentiality;
    • Provides leadership in the development, reviews, and implementation of Internal Audit Charter to align with the internal Audit professional standards, codes of practice & policies, legislative frameworks, SASRA Regulations and government regulations;
    • Provides leadership and is responsible for the implementation of the annual Audit Plan to ensure that all functional areas are covered during audits by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes;
    • Perform audit procedures to verify and ensure that the Risk management, Governance, and Internal controls at the SACCO, conform to SACCO By-laws, policies, processes, and procedures, and all SACCO-related statutory requirements. Audit all operations of the SACCO, review controls, evaluate their adequacy and functionality;
    • Undertake regular testing of all financial transactions and systems (MIS) reviews to confirm that internal control systems are in place and are working;
    • Conduct discussions with Line Managers on commencement and completion of all audits;
    • Issues tracking and follow-up on audit recommendations to ensure timely implementation of the corrective measures to mitigate identified risks;
    • Analyze and verify financial statements of the SACCO are prepared in accordance with IFRS, IAS and the SACCO Societies Act to meet the disclosure requirements per prevailing rules and regulations;
    • Preparing timely and quality reports detailing identified business risks and key control weaknesses and recommending appropriate mitigation measures and practical solutions;
    • Reviewing the economic efficiency and effectiveness in the utilization of resources so that the objectives of the SACCO are achieved;
    • Conduct ad-hoc/ special assignments as may be assigned by the CEO or the Board;
    • Liaise with external Auditors to foster cooperation, reduce duplication of effort, and ensure appropriate sharing of information;
    • Assist in coordinating the activities and provide technical advice and reports to the Audit and Risk Board Committee;
    • Champion risk awareness and integration of risk considerations in all the Sacco initiatives and process designs;
    • Perform any other responsibility assigned.

    Qualifications & Experience

    For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have;

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or any other business-related degree from a recognized university.
    • Master’s degree and Diploma in Cooperative Management and CISA is an added advantage.
    • Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA K).
    • Member of ICPAK or relevant professional body.
    • Minimum 3 years of working experience in a busy accounting/auditing environment and preferably within the SACCO movement.
    • Be competent in use of IT as a working tool.

    Sacco Customer Care Agent

    CUSTOMER CARE AGENT (REF: CCA/04/24)

    Job Purpose:

    The Customer Care Agent will be responsible for providing and promoting a professional, high-quality frontline customer-focused service by efficiently handling in bound & outbound calls, correspondences at the SACCO, resolving customer queries in a timely manner, cross selling the SACCO products all geared towards increasing the SACCO profitability and upholding world-class service.

    Reporting to the HR and Administration Officer.

    Job Type: Contract – Two (2) Years

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Updates the Member complaints register daily to reflect the nature of the complaint and resolution provided;
    • Respond to Member queries and complaints, through telephone, email, and WhatsApp;
    • Interacting with the Members to provide them with relevant system-related information to address inquiries regarding and or emanating from system-related products and services;
    • Receiving walk-in clients;
    • Resolving product or service-related problems and handling of Member complaints in accordance with the SACCO’s guidelines and policies;
    • Collecting customer information and analyzing customer needs;
    • Doing weekly, monthly, and annual reports to the supervisor regarding customer service;
    • Handling clerical tasks and any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications & Experience

    For appointment to this grade, the employee must have;

    • Degree in Public relations, Communication or Business Management from a recognized university.
    • A diploma in cooperative management is an added advantage.
    • Experience working with an ERP Software.
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • A minimum of two years of progressive working experience in customer service, marketing or administrative function in a related organization (SACCO).
    • Excellent oral communication skills are required to speak effectively and with diplomacy to Members.

    Sacco Chief Credit Officer

    CHIEF CREDIT OFFICER (REF: CCO/04/24)

    Job Purpose

    The Chief Credit Officer shall be responsible for the growth of the Society’s loan portfolio, providing strategic leadership, customer relations management, and technical support in Credit administration and risk management in the Loans department.

    Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

    Job Type: Contract – Two (2) Years

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensuring compliance to lending policy and procedures in credit administration process in the Sacco;
    • Providing leadership in new loan products development and repackaging;
    • Policy implementation and review of Credit management strategies and procedures;
    • Participation in Credit Policy review in line with the changing business and regulatory environment;
    • Planning, coordinating, and monitoring debt recovery as well as instituting measures to recover non-performing/defaulted loans;
    • Responsible for managing relations with the debt recovery agencies/ institutions;
    • For cases in court involving debt recovery, will ensure relevant evidence in support of Sacco’s case is properly documented , shared with key stakeholders in good time alongside well-prepared witnesses;
    • Budgeting of income projections for loan products and related financial obligations in the loans department;
    • Assessing and recommending the appropriate training needs for staff in the loans department;
    • Advising on release of any Securities/ collaterals whenever loans have fully been recovered;
    • Periodic credit reviews and assessment of credit worthiness of potential customers;
    • Providing regular and periodic reports to the CEO on the loan book status as required, with the appropriate recommendations where applicable;
    • Liaising with the Head of Finance in line with the Policy and prudential standards;
    • Setting goals for the Credit Administration department staff;
    • Conducting performance appraisals for personnel in the department;
    • Responsible for supervision, coordination, and motivation of the credit operations staff;
    • Responsible for managing relations with the other Sacco departments;
    • Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, credit management or any other related field.
    • Professional qualifications in Credit Management or qualifications like (CPA (K), CISA, CPS).
    • Registration with a recognized professional body or Association in good standing.
    • Diploma in Cooperative Management is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in credit administration or loan management gained from working at management level in a financial institution/SACCO.
    • Strong analytical skills, excellent communication, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills, focused, self-driven and attentive to detail.
