    Branch Managers (Two) Posts

    Job Purpose

    • Reporting to the Head of Retail & SME, the Branch Manager will be responsible for running an effective and efficient branch leading to higher profitability and growth in line with the Bank’s strategy, higher staff engagement and high levels of customer satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Implement the Bank’s strategy at branch level in terms of growth in customer base with concurrent growth in branch liabilities and assets.
    • Oversee customer service delivery, maintenance and improvement of Retail Banking service standards in order to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
    • Formulate and implement branch business plans, forecasts and budgets and ensure their control and periodic reviews.
    • Provide guidance and leadership to staff and be responsible for their training and development.
    • Manage the performance of staff to ensure delivery of set targets through diligent performance management.
    • Implement and monitor the operational risk management guidelines for the branch.
    • Support marketing initiatives and monitor and provide regular feedback on products performance.
    • Maintain the look, feel and physical security of the branch premises as well as staff and customers. 

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Holder of bachelor’s degree in a business related field from a recognized university.
    • Possession of professional banking qualifications such as AKIB and/or CPA (K) will be added advantage.
    • At least 7 years’ experience in general banking, 3 of which should have been in branch management.
    • Should have experience in Credit Analysis and administration.

    Information Systems Audito

    Job Purpose

    • Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, the Information Systems Auditor will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating the automated information processing systems, related non automated processes and the interfaces between them to ensure that information system controls are in place and that laid down information system policies and procedures are adhered to.

    Key Responsibilities

    • In charge of the Information System audit function of the Internal Audit Department.
    • Develop and implement the annual Information Systems audit plan.
    • Ensure that the Bank develops and maintains sound Information System policies and procedures that minimize risks without compromising efficiency.
    • Assess the risks inherent in the bank’s information systems and recommend measures to mitigate them.
    • Provide system investigation services whenever required.
    • Evaluate the Bank’s compliance with internal information system policies, procedures and operating instructions.
    • Conduct regular and surprise inspection of all procedures, policies and processes ensuring that they comply with all statutory requirements and best practice.
    • Evaluate business continuity and disaster recovery including back up procedures, business continuity and disaster recovery plans, tests, sites, and usability.
    • Evaluate and report on system infrastructure and life cycle management.
    • Review system development, acquisition and maintenance.
    • Ensure change management principles are followed.
    • Provide support to other assurance processes to ensure the overall opinion incorporates the risks identified in the underlying information systems.
    • Monitor the implementation & operation of defined controls and recommendations on an ongoing basis.
    • Assist the Risk department with technical expertise to ensure ICT risks are well managed.

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Be a holder of a bachelors degree in Computer Science or IT related field.
    • Should possess professional qualification in Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and/or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
    • Possession of other Cisco certifications such as CCNA and CCSP will be added advantage.
    • Should have thorough knowledge of current auditing techniques and experience of the entire audit process.
    • Should possess advanced ACL skills and/or other audit skills.
    • Should have a minimum of five years’ experience in information systems audit.
    • Should have excellent analytical skills and great attention to detail.

    Project Analyst

    Job Purpose

    • Reporting to the Manager, Credit Analysis, the Project Analyst will be responsible for analysis of construction loans and other project related loan applications as well as support on going projects to ensure that the Bank’s interest is upheld and projects are seamlessly executed for mutual benefit of the Bank and customers.

    Key responsibilities and accountabilities

    • Analyze feasibility studies, credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit.
    • Administer mortgage, monitor implementation and review various reports including appraisals, environmental documentation, and engineering reports to determine compliance with investor requirements of projects financed by the Bank to ensure successful completion of the same.
    • Ensure compliance of all lending procedures as stipulated in the credit policy manual, monitoring various financing products advanced to ensure compliance in relation to their satisfactory conduct ensuring all post approval activities, including conditions precedent to disbursement, are accurate and complete.
    • Provide technical support to the branch credit staff and clients on credit/ mortgage related issues.
    • Hold meetings with clients, consultants to address issues on proposed construction projects.
    • Conduct periodical site visits to asses projects and hold discussion with concerned parties together with the project managers;
    • Consult with customers to resolve complaints and verify financial and credit transactions.
    • Conduct market intelligence researches and preparation of reports for presentation to the
    • Credit Committee on the Real Estate sector and make recommendations for adaptation.
    • Participate in the preparation of Board Papers for presentation to the Board Credit
    • Committee and Management Papers and reports for presentation to the Management Credit Committee.
    • Liaise with representatives of credit associations and other businesses to exchange information concerning credit ratings and forwarding addresses, verify financial and credit transactions.

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Should be a holder of bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering or a related field.
    • Should possess professional qualification in Project Management or a related field.
    • Should be a member of a relevant professional body.
    • Should have at least four years’ experience in Construction or Project Management.
    • Should possess excellent credit and financial analysis skills.
    • Should have excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills.
    • Should have great interpersonal skills, good customer service orientation and commercial awareness.

    Relationship Officer – Corporate Banking

    Job Purpose

    • Reporting to the Head of Corporate Banking, the Relationship Officer will be responsible for offering support to the Relationship Managers and the Head of Corporate Banking for credit appraisal, credit administration and continuity of service in the absence of the Relationship Managers to drive overall business of the allocated corporate Accounts to achieve set business targets.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Call existing and prospective customers to develop new business and to match their business needs with the products and services being offered by the Bank.
    • Provide customer service to existing and potential customers through follow-up to develop new business and promote Bank’s products and services.
    • Market for real estate business and support branches in analyzing applications for real estate financing.
    • Visit and assess possible needs for the client or cross selling opportunities and provide financial solutions and ensure value chain maximization.
    • Assist the Relationship Manager(s) in handling the administrative part of managing client relationships.
    • Carry out credit appraisal and risk analysis of proposals forwarded to the Corporate Banking Department and make specific recommendations.
    • Follow up on disbursements as per approved conditions.
    • Carry out credit administration duties regarding accounts within portfolio and provide continuity in relationship management.
    • Make timely responses to clarifications sought by Credit Department on applications forwarded to them and maintain close follow up to ensure early decisions.
    • Review performance of customer facilities and make appropriate recommendations regarding non-performing facilities.
    • Maintain close follow up on client businesses facing loan repayment difficulties and, in conjunction with the Relationship Managers and Head of Corporate Banking develop measures for rehabilitation and/or recovery of debts.
    • Check the revenue payable to Bank by customers to ensure that proper rates/charges are applied.

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Should possess a bachelor’s degree in commerce or a business related field. Possession of professional banking qualifications such as AKIB, ACIB or CPA will be an added advantage.
    • Should have a minimum of four years’ relevant working experience in banking.
    • Should possess strong credit risk management skills.
    • Should have strong customer service orientation and commercial awareness.
    • Should have excellent interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to network, generate new business and develop strong business relations.

    Business Development Officers

    Job Purpose

    • Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Business Development Officers will be responsible for delivering business performance through marketing of the Bank products while ensuring optimum productivity, quality loan book, operational efficiency and relations management.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the credit function of the Branch by ensuring growth of a high quality loan book as per set targets.
    • Develop good customer loan facility proposals that comply with the Bank’s credit administration standards and policy.
    • Market new liability accounts in line with the given targets – Deposit mobilization.
    • Identify and understand specific client needs and deliver on time in line with the Bank’s policies and procedures.
    • Keep abreast with new developments in customer preference and advice management on relevant changes.
    • Manage customer relations under personal portfolio and ensure that lasting relations are established with all clients.
    • Ensure turnaround time as per the Service Level Agreements when providing service to customers.
    • In liaison with credit administration unit, ensure timely renewal of insurance policies for assets charged as security and timely updates of valuation reports for properties held as security for loans extended by the Bank under personal portfolio.
    • Effective monitoring of loan repayments, mitigating risks related to default and periodically reviewing the loan portfolio to manage likely problem areas.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance and implementation of effective anti-money laundering procedures and controls.
    • Ensure timely submission of management reports.

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Possess a bachelor’s degree in a business related field.

    Portfolio Monitoring Officer

    Job Purpose

    • Reporting to the Credit Administration Manager, the Portfolio Monitoring Officer will be responsible for monitoring the quality of the loan book and reporting on its condition to the Management and to the Regulator, decision support, risk mitigation and stakeholder collaboration.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Loan Portfolio Monitoring and Management to ensure that loans are properly graded according to performance as prescribed in the Credit Policy, CBK Prudential Guidelines and IFRS9 standards.
    • Deliver high quality portfolio management reports to aid senior management in understanding risk trends and aiding in strategic decision making by business.
    • Monitor the portfolio by providing triggers and changes in performance of the loan Book through the use of the daily refer lists and Portfolio at risk reports.
    • Prepare and dispatch prudential returns to the Regulator (CBK) and the Credit Reference Bureaus.
    • Proactively identify early warning signs of declining creditworthiness and work with
    • Relationship Managers to ensure early intervention in order to minimize losses.
    • Monitoring of exceptions in the loan portfolio to keep it within the Bank’s risk appetite.
    • Update and recalibrate IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) model.
    • Monitor, notify and implement Central Bank Rate changes for variable rate loans.
    • Advise Finance department on Provision requirements on the impaired loan.
    • Ensure that data integrity issues are identified and resolved.
    • Provide guidance to the Bank on policy requirements relating to portfolio management on existing and new credit products based on lessons learnt from daily monitoring and recommending changes or improvement in the credit policies.
    • Ensure strict adherence to all regulations, statutes, standards, practices and all internal processes and procedures as per the relevant manuals and comply with all relevant external legislation and regulations with regard to Compliance requirements.

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Holder of bachelor’s degree in a business related field. Professional banking qualifications will be added advantage.
    • Should have minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing a credit portfolio in a commercial bank.
    • Should have thorough understanding of CBK regulatory framework and IFRS 9 financial standards
    • Should be proficient in ICT with excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and data analytical skills.
    • Should have strong technical understanding of the banking regulatory environment.
    • Should demonstrate proactivity, precision and attention to detail.
    • Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels internally and externally

    Premises Assistant

    Job Purpose

    • Reporting to the Administration & Facilities Manager, the Premises Assistant will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of premises maintenance in order to ensure smooth running of the Bank’s operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Organize and carry out maintenance duties to ensure the general upkeep and maintenance of the building.
    • Building inspection and report writing on quarterly/regular basis.
    • Ensure cleaning, fumigation and hygiene standards are met by the service provider at the Bank’s premises.
    • Organize for the renewal of the Bank’s licenses and collect Bank’s licenses/ invoices.
    • Ensure all licenses, business permits and land rates for the premises are up to date.
    • Oversee the operation of service providers on their maintenance programs and the routine inspection of the premises; ensure that urgent, minor repairs are carried out.
    • Carry out routine evaluation of service providers’ performance.
    • Monitor and track the flow of Bank assets.
    • Lead and participate in the organization and movement of furniture and equipment within the premises.
    • Co-ordinate all furniture repairs within the Bank premises.
    • Ensure the responsible operation, care and maintenance of the generator, lifts and other equipment and tools associated with caretaking, cleaning and maintenance work so that proper safety standards and requirements are applied.
    • Co-ordinate all maintenance schedules for all equipment within the Bank.
    • Co-ordinate with the outsourced Caretaker in sourcing of suitable tenants, advertising of vacant space and keeping records of tenancy reports.
    • Co-ordinate on boarding of new tenants including issuance of letters of offer and leases, settlements in co-rdination with the outsourced tenancy management firm.
    • Ensure that the rents receivables are tracked and paid promptly and monitor to ensure that caretakers/rent management company delivers their mandate.
    • Ensure monthly meter readings for all occupants in the building are done and billed accordingly. (Water and Electricity).
    • Ensure routine premises inspection and regular attendance to plumbing issues.
    • Routine arming, opening and closing of premises.
    • Co-ordination of Occupational Safety and Health activities.

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Should possess a minimum of Craft Certificate in either Building Construction, Plumbing Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing, Estates Management, Business
    • Management/Administration, or any other relevant field.
    • Should have minimum of two years’ relevant experience.
    • Should have good understanding of and ability to apply relevant regulations.
    • Understanding of and ability to apply relevant regulations
    • Should possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in computer applications.
    • Excellent team player, helpful, friendly, and willing to undertake extra tasks (as and when necessary)
    • Strong commitment to providing a high-quality service
    • The ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with people at varying levels
    • Willing to work varied shift patterns and be on call for emergencies
