    Junior Lab Associate

    Role Overview

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Laboratory Associate to support the delivery of high-quality food safety testing services. This role will focus on microbiological and basic chemical analysis of food, water, and food contact surfaces to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced laboratory setting and contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    Sample Collection & Handling

    • Collect samples (food, water, surface swabs) from centralized and decentralized sites across Kenya.
    • Receive, register, label, store, and dispose of samples in line with approved procedures.

    Laboratory Testing & Analysis

    • Conduct microbiological testing, including enumeration and detection of foodborne pathogens.
    • Perform routine chemical analyses as required.
    • Ensure accuracy, repeatability, and compliance with established methods.

    Documentation & Quality Management

    • Maintain accurate, up-to-date laboratory records and test reports.
    • Support the development, review, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions.
    • Participate in proficiency testing, internal audits, and inter-laboratory comparisons.

    Equipment & Inventory Management

    • Operate, clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
    • Monitor and manage inventory of reagents, consumables, PPE, and glassware.
    • Flag low stock and coordinate timely replenishment.

    Compliance & Housekeeping

    • Adhere to safety protocols and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
    • Ensure compliance with ISO 17025:2017 quality standards.
    • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.

    Team Contribution

    • Participate in self-inspections and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

    Desired Candidate Profile

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Food Science or related course.
    • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in an ISO 17025:2017 testing laboratory. 
    • Familiarity with microbial analysis techniques, especially in food and beverage contexts.
    • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and basic laboratory data systems.

    Social Media Associate – Tap2Eat

    Role Purpose

    The Social Media Associate will plan, create, and manage Tap2Eat’s social media presence across the country where the program operates. Reporting to the Social & Digital manager, this role specializes in building and nurturing local communities by engaging parents, students, public school administration , teachers, community leaders, and any other audience relevant to the Tap2Eat brand, simplifying Tap2Eat’s message into clear, parent-friendly language, and sharing timely content that builds trust, showcases program successes, and drives adoption at the local level.

    Key Responsibilities

    Social Media Content Creation & Publishing

    • Develop, adapt, and publish content for Tap2Eat’s social media channels (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok as relevant) in line with the brand guidelines and content calendar.
    • Draft captions, basic copy, and simple visual assets (e.g. reels, stories, social tiles, short videos) using approved templates and tools.
    • Support localization of content for school communities, parents, and other key audiences.

    Community Management & Engagement

    • Monitor Tap2Eat’s social channels daily, responding to comments, DMs, and mentions in a timely, brand-appropriate manner.
    • Flag sensitive issues, complaints, or reputational risks to the Brand Manager and relevant teams.
    • Proactively engage with partners, influencers, and community pages to build positive visibility and conversation around Tap2Eat.

    Campaign Support (Organic & Paid)

    • Support the Brand Manager in implementing social media campaigns, including back-to-school, launches, product updates, and impact storytelling.
    • Assist in setting up and monitoring boosted posts and basic paid social campaigns, working closely with the Brand Manager and/or agencies.
    • Coordinate posting schedules around key events, school activities, and partnerships.

     Influencer & Partner Content Support

    • Help identify micro-influencers, parent champions, and school ambassadors that align with Tap2Eat’s values and audiences.
    • Coordinate logistics for influencer content (briefs, content submission, deadlines, tracking posts).
    • Repost and repurpose influencer and partner content in line with brand guidelines and approvals.

    Monitoring, Reporting & Insights

    • Track key metrics across social channels (followers, reach, engagement, clicks, saves, shares, sentiment).
    • Prepare simple weekly and monthly reports for the Brand Manager, highlighting what worked, what didn’t, and ideas for improvement.
    • Conduct basic social listening to understand parent/school conversations and competitor activity, and share insights with the Brand Manager.

    Cross-Team Collaboration & Brand Alignment

    • Work closely with the Brand Manager to ensure all social media content aligns with Tap2Eat’s overall brand strategy, campaigns, and tone of voice.
    • Coordinate with program, customer support, and product/tech teams to ensure accurate, timely information is shared on social channels (e.g. FAQs, updates, school onboarding).
    • Uphold brand guidelines across all posts and interactions.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Communications, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
    • 1–3 years’ experience managing social media pages for a brand, organization, or agency (internships and freelance work can count).
    • Hands-on experience with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn; TikTok).
    • Basic skills in content creation tools (e.g. Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express or similar).
    • Experience with social media analytics (native platform insights, Meta Business Suite, or similar tools).
    • Exposure to working with influencers/creators and/or supporting paid social campaigns is an added advantage.
