    Quality Assurance Manager

    Job Summary

    • Responsible for the company’s overall compliance to all global standards and local regulations under which Greenblade operates.
    • Responsible for implementation and maintain all requirements of all food handling and food safety global standards, manage the company food safety management system from the farm to delivery to the customer, training various staff members on food safety, quality and legality. Document and respond to all customer complaints and give a root-cause analysis on all customer complaints and work with the department responsible to resolve the same within the shortest time possible
    • Ensure data is captured in all relevant data point in the production, processing, and export chains to ensure traceability is maintained and for the enhancement of yields, pack out and reduction of claims from customers

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Reduce customer complaints and product rejections from 5% to 3%
    • Ensure 100% compliance to all applicable standards and practices.
    • Ensure 100% compliance to farm, packhouse and commercial policies, procedures and systems.
    • Work hand in hand with the Packhouse Manager and Human Resource Manager to identify training and audits required in the package in regard to food safety, quality and compliance with the Employment Act.
    • Ensure quantity and customer specification is followed all the time during production in the pack house.
    • Organize training regarding food safety.
    • Maintenance of all technical standards e.g. BRC, SMETA, Global GAP in the package.
    • Technical: certifications, customers' requirements, MRL issues, quality claims.
    • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
    • Reporting: Ensure timely and appropriate reporting to the line Manager.
    • Conduct root cause analysis on return from the customer and hand over the report to relevant department for action.

    Maintaining the claim level within the budgeted level.
    Minimum Qualifications & Competencies

    • Minimum bachelor’s degree Agriculture in food science or a related course
    • A Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar work environment.
    • Excellent communication skills, a problem solver with strong attention to detail
    • Working knowledge of tools, methods, and concepts of quality assurance.
    • Solid knowledge of relevant regulatory standards.
    • Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
    • Team player with ability to work effectively and make decisions independently.
    • Commercial awareness and sound business knowledge

    Farm Manager

    Job Summary

    • The job holder shall be responsible for executing the farm-specific business plan to enable the company to meet its budget targets by producing high quality volumes of herbs (Chieves) as per target yields, pack out and other quality specifications.

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Analyzing existing farm, packhouse and commercial operations, recommending and executing improvements geared towards optimizing operational efficiency across the business. Champion a continuous improvement and quality assurance across the production chain.
    • Business scale-up planning to ensure investment in CAPEX is line with projected customer demand growth to achieve the right CAPEX intensity.
    • Lead expansion projects, including setting up or extending requisite production infrastructure, including construction of Greenhouses and Tunnels, irrigation and fertigation systems, and crop establishment husbandry.
    • Timely and cost-effective sourcing of quality inputs (seeds, chemicals, fertilizers, and other consumables to meet production targets.
    • Ensure proper maintenance of farm and logistical infrastructure and machinery to guarantee 100% uptime.
    • Labour planning and resource allocation. Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff members. Develop and implement strong performance management practices for all staff members.
    • Budgeting and Reporting- Coordinate relevant departments in the preparation and submission of reports to the CEO in the agreed time frame. Inventory movement report compared to set targets.
    • In charge of all agronomical practices.
    • Area under production, production volumes per block, yields, pack out, returns, shelf life, unit economics (selling price, unit farm and pack house cost, margins,) compared to budgeted KPIS.
    • Growth parameters, including temperature, soil analysis, humidity, irrigation. quantities and frequency, etc. and a report on how each of these parameters affect.
    • Compliance to food safety and other regulations. The incumbent will ensure that the farm is in compliance the following, NEMA, WRA,KEPHIS,OSHA,PUBLIC HEALTH,GLOBAL GAP&SMETA.

    Minimum Qualifications & Competencies

    • A bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or other relevant agricultural qualification
    • A minimum of 5 years of proven track record of large-scale production of high- quality herbs (Basil)
    • A minimum of 3 years of end-to-end farm management experience, from procurement of inputs, to crop husbandry activities and processes, to packaging and delivery of the final.
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
    • Commercially astute especially in clients and product management
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, networking, and business development skills
    • Business leader with ability to work effectively with diverse teams in decision making and performance enhancement.
