    Global Migration Lab-Program Coordinator

    Job Summary:

    The Program Coordinator role will be based in Nairobi at Kenya Red Cross and is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, execution of regional research projects, under the supervision of the Program Manager of the Hub and in coordination with the Global Migration Lab.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support the Program Manager to execute the Hub’s research agenda and projects related to Movement priorities, in coordination with the Global Migration Lab
    • In coordination with the Program Manager, liaise with regional stakeholders (internal and external) to build partnerships and engage in collaborative research projects.
    • Provide logistical and administrative support to the Hub for research projects, including arranging research meetings and consultations, managing invitations for research and policy events, securing translation and interpretation services, etc.
    • Track and monitor progress in research projects and provide updates to the Program Manager.
    • Liaise and coordinate with National Society research focal points in the region to support and track research project progress and address challenges.  
    • Support data collection and analysis at the national and regional level and preparation of draft research reports and papers for further review by the Program Manager at the Hub and the Global Migration Lab more broadly.
    • Contribute to communication materials and resources related to the work of the Hub (and the Lab).
    • Where nominated by the Program Manager, represent the Hub (and Lab) at relevant regional conferences, workshops, policy and technical working groups and keep a record of key priorities for action.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree from a reputable university.
    • Three years-experience working in a reputable research company or organization.
    • Demonstrated skills in collaboration and cross-cultural communication. 
    • Project coordination experience related to research and data collection projects (quantitative and qualitative),
    • Experience contributing to and coordinating the publication of research papers and reports in a regional (or global) context
    • Experience in migration research, especially academic research and publications, and/or experience working in universities.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office systems,
    • Written and verbal communication skills, including experience with online/remote engagement.
    • Demonstrated understanding of migration in situations of vulnerability, and the social political issues impacting migrants locally, regionally and globally. Lived experience of migration is highly desirable.
    • Fluency in English required, with advanced skills in French highly desirable.

    • Considerable IT & MIS skills (MS Dynamics Navision and MS Office)

    Global Migration Lab-Program Manager

    Job Summary:

    The Program Manager will be based in Nairobi at Kenya Red Cross and is responsible for the overall work plan of the Hub, including the planning, implementation, execution and monitoring of regional research projects and contributing to the strategic direction and research agenda of the Hub, in coordination with the Global Migration Lab.

    The Program Manager will also coordinate and build relationships with Red Cross and Red Crescent actors across the region and at the global level and with regional migration-related research and academic institutions.

    The Program Manager will be supported by and responsible for managing a research Program Coordinator.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead, identify and execute the Hub’s research agenda and projects related to Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement priorities, in coordination with the Global Migration Lab.
    • Manage Hub relationships with regional stakeholders (internal and external) to create a cohesive program plan that includes implementation timelines, deliverables and success indicators for multiple research projects.
    • Deliver on Hub research project outcomes by monitoring workplans and providing reports to reporting to the Global Migration Lab.
    • Manage alignment and coordination between the Hub and other National Red Cross and Red Cresent Societies and external stakeholders.
    • Supervise and manage research staff and volunteers.
    • Manage and promote Hub (and Lab) research projects and products, including by developing publicity and promotions strategies in the region.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Five years-experience working as a program manager leading research in a reputable company or organization.
    • A minimum of five years' experience in the coordination of donor-funded projects and thus, good knowledge of donor planning cycles, agreement requirements and regulations as well as reporting processes.
    • Demonstrated skills in collaboration and cross-cultural communication. 
    • Strong capacity to manage research and data collection projects (quantitative and qualitative) and to produce research papers, data analysis, positions and reports in a regional (or global) context
    • Strong ability to undertake complex migration research, including academic research and publications.
    • Familiar with Microsoft Office systems.
    • Understanding of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement and of its approaches to migration.
    • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including experience with online/remote engagement, and advanced editing and writing skills.
    • Demonstrated understanding of migration in situations of vulnerability, and the social political issues impacting migrants locally, regionally and globally. Lived experience of migration is highly desirable.
    • Fluency in English required, with advanced skills in French highly desirable.
