    Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs, Research and Innovation) – One (1) Post

    For appointment to this position,

    • a candidate must: - have an earned PhD. degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
    • be at least an Associate Professor in a university recognized in Kenya;
    • have at least six (6) years of academic experience at a senior positioninauniversity setting with demonstrated capacity for leadership andacademicexcellence;
    • have demonstrable leadership in an academic and/or research institution, having served substantively with measurable results in senior administrativeposts such as of a Deputy Vice – Chancellor, Deputy Principal, Dean/Director, Principal of a Constituent University/ College of a University/Campus orleadership of comparable levels in other similar institutions;
    • be a recognized scholar as evidenced by refereed journals publications, university level books as well as project grants and awards;
    • have demonstrable ability to mobilize and solicit for funds including enhancingthe revenue base of the university;
    • be familiar with the national education policies and current trends inhighereducation worldwide;
    • have excellent and proven organizational, communication and interpersonal
    • Basic Salary Scale: Ksh: 416,420 – 555,800 pmHouse Allowance: Ksh: 80, 000 pm
    • Leave Allowance: As provided by the University
    • Medical Cover and Other Allowances: As provided by the University
    • Terms of Service: Five (5) year contract renewable oncesubject to satisfactory performance

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • The Deputy Vice Chancellor will be reporting to the Vice- Chancellor and he/shewill be accountable to and under the general authority of the Vice Chancellor.
    • His/herduties and responsibilities will include:
    • having the overall responsibility of direction, organization of learning, researchand Students Affairs programmes in the University;
    • reviewing and developing academic programmes as well as rules andregulations governing the implementation of approved/accreditedacademicprogrammes;
    • formulating guidelines for the effective management, implementationandevaluation of academic programmes;
    • coordinating the teaching and research and providing the necessarysupportneeded by all academic programmes offered by the University;
    • being responsible for promoting and coordination research, scientificpublications, innovations, extension, outreach activities and technologytransfer;
    • mobilizing and soliciting financial support for research and other programmesin the University;
    • maintain collaborations and linkages with both local and international
    • institutions of higher learning, research institutions, industry and other strategicpartners;
    • coordination of student’s welfare activities; and
    • overseeing and ensuring general conduct and discipline of students amongstother duties that may be assigned

    • have an earned PhD degree from a University recognized in Kenya;

    Chairperson, Intelligence Service Complaints Board

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must:

    • be a citizen of Kenya;
    • hold a law degree from a university recognized in Kenya, or is an advocate of
    • the High Court of Kenya, or possess an equivalent qualification in a commonlaw jurisdiction;
    • have at least ten (10) years experience as a superior court judge or professionally qualified magistrate;
    • have at least ten (10) years experience as a distinguished academic or legal practitioner or such experience in other relevant legal field;
    • have held the qualifications specified in paragraphs and (b) for a period amounting, in the aggregate, to ten (10) years;
    • be of high moral character, integrity and impartiality; and meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must:

    • be a citizen of Kenya;
    • hold a degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
    • have had at least seven (7) years experience in the public service;
    • have had a distinguished career in his/her respective field; and
    • meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
