    Environmental Sustainability Management Engineer

    Responsibilities

    • Assists with inputs into section multi-year plans and budgeting activities for environmental upgrades and improvement projects, with specific focus on energy, water, wastewater, and waste management services, increased renewable energy capacities, reduced emissions and biodiversity.
    • Collaborates to provide technical expertise to multi-disciplinary teams on environmental sustainability best practice throughout facilities and operations, including research, feasibility studies, design proposals including energy modeling, drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
    • Supports with project management of environmental infrastructure projects across energy, water, wastewater and waste management services, working in close collaboration with technical teams to oversee contracted technical design, construction, operation and maintenance service providers in line with the established program of work.
    • Applies commonly used engineering calculations, practices and precedents in completing portions of larger projects related to the design, construction, or repair of buildings, waste disposal systems, water treatment facilities, electrical power generation and distribution systems, environmental control systems, and other related structures and activities.
    • Assists with management oversight and technical guidance to other section engineers and facilities specialists to develop technical data including plans, designs and specifications for projects, construction and related documents, including bills of quantities and drawings sufficient for tender out of construction works.
    • Assists to produce cost data and estimates on engineering-related requirements of current and planned new and retrofit projects. Analyzes project proposals to ensure technical feasibility and to ensure that project objectives are attainable within prescribed resources.
    • Supports in formulating environmental procedures, standards and guidelines into the program of work for construction and maintenance including life cycle replacement plans for infrastructure and operations.
    • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

    Education

    • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in environmental engineering, environmental management, environmental sustainability, electrical and mechanical engineering (energy, water and or wastewater management), or another similar field, is required.
    • A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Additional training in Environmental Management Systems and or ISO 14001:2015 certification is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in either environmental engineering, environmental management, environmental sustainability, electrical and mechanical engineering (energy, water and wastewater management), or related field, is required.
    • Practical experience working as the principal responsible for planning, implementation, and delivery of environmental sustainability infrastructure or engineering (including improvements and upgrades to existing systems) projects with a specific focus on the built environment, energy, water, wastewater and waste services is required.
    • Practical experience with planning, coordination, and implementation of an established entity wide Environmental Management System (EMS) and the related certification requirements for the same according to international standards such as ISO 14001:2015 is required.
    • Practical experience working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide technical expertise, best practice and deliver on environmental building or engineering solutions, is required. Proficiency in use of REVIT, AutoCAD, or similar software is desirable.
    • Prior experience in the United Nations system and or similar international environment working on environmental performance reporting, communication and outreach, is desirable.
    • Practical experience with an environmentally certified building, or environmental performance assessment and rating tools, is desirable.

    Procurement Officer (6 Months)

    Responsibilities

    • Plans, develops and manages all procurement and contractual aspects of projects of significant complexity specifically related to major construction and renovations of buildings within the UNON complex through a worldwide procurement of diverse services and commodities (e.g. works, services, information technology, electronic equipment and instruments, building maintenance materials, office supplies, construction, furniture, etc.) taking into account local economic and other conditions.
    • Advises requisitioning units and recipient entities on the full range of procurement issues, providing support and guidance at all stage of the procurement cycle.
    • Provide technical advice on procurement activities to officials of substantive units during all phases of procurement cycle.
    • Supervise/oversee preparation and distribution of invitations to tender and manage/conduct all aspects of the tender exercise.
    • Utilize establishment procurement procedures to clarify and solve procurement-related queries from requisitioners.  Performs other related duties as requested by the Supervisor.

    Education

    • An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in supply chain management, procurement, business administration, commerce, engineering, law or related fields is required.
    • A first-level degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two (2) additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • Five (5) years of experience in Procurement of global service contracts, of which Three (3) years of first-hand experience in Contract Administration or Contract Management is required. Experience in administering or managing design or construction contracts in the UN system or international organizations is desirable.
    • Experience in managing large procurement cases for goods and services in large international organizations is desirable.
    • One (1) year experience supervising a procurement team is desirable. Experience working with a Systems Application and Products (SAP) system or any other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is desirable. Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

    Senior Finance and Budget Assistant (Temporary)

    Responsibilities

    • Under the direct supervision of the Chief, the incumbent is expected to perform the following duties:
    • BUDGETING: Preparation of cost estimates and budget proposals in terms of staff and non-staff requirements for regular budget and extra-budgetary resources under UNON Administration. M
    • onitor budget implementation and performance and recommend reallocation of funds as necessary.
    • Ensure that requisitions for goods and services are in line with authorized budgets, the priorities of the organization and the UN financial rules and regulations. • Review requests for creation and extension of positions as well as requests for recruitment.
    • Assist in the execution of cost recovery in line with established agreements and policies and support on the collection of associated receivables.
    • Perform certifying functions of financial transactions as per delegation.
    • ACCOUNTING: Responsible for the processing of financial documents in line with the financial rules and regulations.
    • Take the lead on the preparation of Annual and Interim IPSAS Financial Statements ensuring accuracy and completeness of the accounting records. • Act as a Local Process Expert reviewing Donor Financial Reports before submission for approval.
    • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
    • Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as Standard Operation Procedures, web pages and so on.
    • Take the lead on presentations and technical articles to clients (internal and external, where applicable.
    • Knowledge retention and quality assurance focal point for the team.
    • Performs other related duties as required by Section or Unit Chief.

    Education

    • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Supplemental courses/ training in finance, administration, project management or related field is required.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of ten (10) years of working experience in financial accounting, budget or related area is required.
    • The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced by (2) years for candidates who possess a first level University degree.
    • Experience with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and finance system such as Oracle or SAP is required.
    • Experience with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) is required. Experience with integrated business processes, data analytics and reporting is desirable.
