    Mid Level Android Developer

    Job Responsibilities

    • Perform full stack hands-on mobile development for native mobile app design and implementation on Android, including system analysis, test-driven application development, unit test, test automation, code review and application maintenance support.
    • Code and ship complex new mobile features and apps.
    • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with the project manager and technical product owners.
    • Work with owners and system leads, including Vendor Solutions, to logically design and negotiate solutions and participate in long-term product planning.
    • Ensure commitments are met while providing high-quality and cost-effective systems that meet client expectations.
    • Keep up to date on new technology, standards, protocols and tools in areas relevant to the rapidly changing digital mobile environment.
    • Work with the application support teams and external vendors as necessary to ensure all applications are supported according to their Service Level Agreements.
    • Troubleshoot and fix issues in production and non-production environments.
    • Collaborate and work with external teams to design API specs.
    • Propose and implement process improvements to make our engineering team even better

    Required Skills/Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (preferred), Math, Physics, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
    • Min 5 years of software development experience
    • 3+ years of Android development
    • Experience in coding new Android mobile apps from scratch as well as refactoring, transitioning, and revising existing apps
    • Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices including Custom UI or views.
    • Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes.
    • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services.
    • Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
    • Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
    • Ability to design applications around natural user interfaces, such as “touch.”
    • Familiarity with the use of additional sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers
    • Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
    • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
    • Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications.

    Mid Level Data Scientist

    Job Purpose

    • The candidate will apply data mining techniques and conduct statistical analysis to large, structured and unstructured data sets to understand and analyse phenomena. Model complex business problems, discovering insights and opportunities through statistical, algorithmic, machine learning and visualisation techniques, working closely with clients, data and technology teams to turn data into critical information used to make sound business decisions. Execute intelligent automation and predictive modelling.

    Responsibilities:

    • Gathering of data for use in Data Science models, ensuring that chosen datasets best reflect the organisations goals.
    • Performs data pre-processing including data manipulation, transformation, normalisation, standardisation, visualisation and derivation of new variables/features.
    • Utilises advanced data analytics and mining techniques to analyse data, assessing data validity and usability; reviews data results to ensure accuracy; and communicates results and insights to stakeholders.
    • Designs various mathematical, statistical, and simulation techniques to typically large and unstructured data sets in order to answer critical business questions and create predictive solutions which drive improvement in business outcomes.
    • Drives analytics and insights across the organisation by developing advanced statistical models and computational algorithms based on business initiatives.
    • Codes, tests and maintains scientific models and algorithms; identifies trends, patterns, and discrepancies in data; and determines additional data needed to support insight. Processes, cleanses, and verifies the integrity of data used for analysis.
    • Use data profiling and visualisation techniques using tools to understand and explain data characteristics that will inform modelling approaches. Communicate data information to business with various skill levels and in various roles, presenting trends, correlations and patterns found in complicated datasets in a manner that clearly and concisely conveys meaningful insights and defend recommendations.
    • Creates, maintains and optimises modelling solutions that enable the forecast of quality data outcomes.
    • Ensures that volumetric predictions are modelled so that resource requirements are optimally considered.
    • Develops and maintains optimal evaluation techniques to ensure that modelled outcomes are rigorous and creates model performance tracking, and drives sustainable and effective modelling solutions.

    • Develops and co-ordinates a comprehensive strategy for productionalising automation software so that it is accurate and well maintained

    • Provides input into Data management and modelling infrastructure requirements and adheres to the organisations’s infrastructure development processes, including the management of User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
    • Ensure business integration through integrating model outputs into end-point production systems, where requirements must be understood and adopted relating to data collection, integration and retention requirements incorporating business requirements and knowledge of best practices.
    • Builds machine learning models from and utilises distributed data processing and analysis methodologies.
    • Competent in Machine Learning programming in R or Python, with supplementary still in Matlab, Java, etc. Familiar with the Hadoop distributed computational platform, including broader ecosystem of tools such as HDFS / Spark / Kafka
    • Liaise and collaborate with the Data Science Guild, providing support to the entire department for its data centric needs.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to select the relevant sources of information and translates the business requirements into data mining/science outcomes.
    • Presents findings and observations to team for development of recommendations.
    • Acts as a subject matter expert from a data science perspective and provides input into all decisions relating to data science and the use thereof.
    • Educate the organisation on data science perspectives on new approaches, such as testing hypotheses and statistical validation of results.
    • Ensure ongoing knowledge of industry standards as well as best practice and identify gaps between these definitions/data elements and organisation data elements/definitions.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology/ Information Studies and/or any other relevant course

    IT Support Specialist

    Role Overview

    • We are looking for a proactive and technically sharp IT Support Specialist to join Tezza’s technology team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for all internal IT needs, ensuring our teams across Nairobi and beyond have the tools, systems, and support they need to drive Tezza’s mission forward.
    • The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience supporting technology systems in a banking or fintech environment, understands the unique security and compliance demands of financial services, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.

    Key Responsibilities

    Day-to-Day IT Support

    • Serve as first and second-line technical support for all  staff across hardware, software, networking, and connectivity issues.
    • Manage and resolve IT helpdesk tickets promptly, maintaining high service standards and SLA adherence.
    • Onboard new employees with device setup, account creation, and access provisioning aligned to Tezza's  security policies.

    Systems & Infrastructure

    • Administer and maintain  internal IT infrastructure including servers, endpoints, cloud tools, and communication platforms.
    • Manage user accounts, roles, and access controls across systems including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, VPNs, and internal fintech platforms.
    • Support and monitor integration touchpoints between  lending platform and partner systems (MNOs, banks, digital wallets, payment gateways).
    • Perform routine system maintenance, software patching, and hardware lifecycle management.

    Security & Compliance

    • Enforce IT security policies and best practices aligned with fintech regulatory requirements and data privacy standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, local data protection laws).
    • Monitor systems for security incidents, unauthorized access, and anomalies; escalate and respond to alerts promptly.
    • Support IT audits by preparing documentation, evidence logs, and access review reports for internal and external reviewers.
    • Maintain endpoint protection, antivirus management, and device compliance across all company equipment.

    Fintech Platform Support

    • Provide technical support for  proprietary credit scoring platform, lending management systems, and partner API integrations.
    • Liaise with development and product teams to escalate technical issues affecting platform availability or performance.
    • Assist in the deployment and testing of new product features, system updates, and partner integrations from an IT infrastructure perspective.

    Business Continuity & Vendor Management

    • Support disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP), including DR drills and failover testing.
    • Coordinate with external IT vendors, internet service providers, and software suppliers for procurement, renewals, and issue resolution.
    • Maintain accurate IT asset inventory, licenses, and documentation.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
    • Relevant certifications are advantageous: CompTIA A+/Network+, ITIL Foundation, Microsoft 365 Certified, or equivalent.

    Experience — Mandatory

    • Minimum 3 years of IT support experience, of which at least 2 years must be within a banking, microfinance, or fintech company.
    • Demonstrated experience supporting financial technology platforms, digital lending systems, mobile money integrations, or payment processing environments.
    • Proven track record working in IT environments with financial regulatory compliance obligations.

    Technical Skills

    • Strong command of Windows and/or macOS environments; Microsoft 365 / Azure AD administration.
    • Solid networking skills: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Wi-Fi, and firewall management.
    • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) in a support or administrative capacity.
    • Familiarity with API-driven fintech ecosystems — understanding of how lending platforms, MNO integrations, and digital wallets connect.
    • Experience with ITSM/helpdesk tools (e.g., Jira Service Management, Freshdesk, Zendesk, or similar).
    • Scripting ability (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation and administration tasks is a plus.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity principles applicable to financial data, customer PII, and credit information.
