    Medical Specialist II

    MEDICAL SPECIALIST II - JOB GROUP K4:

    Job purpose
    • The  Medical  Specialist  II  will  be  responsible  to  the  Chief  Medical  Specialist/Head  of Department  and  will  be  expected  to  take  full  responsibility  for patients  under  his/her care.
    Key responsibilities
    • Performing clinical procedures and making decisions on patients’ management in the area of specialization.
    • Conducting regular Ward Rounds.
    • Responding to consultations from other clinical specialties.
    • Conducting specialist out-patient clinics.
    • Participating in   assessment   of   patients   as   may   be   required   by   the   Hospital Management.
    • Participating in research, teaching, training and supervising the performance of both medical and non-medical staff as well as post-graduate students.
    • Participating in preparation of annual budgets for the department.
    • Participate in Administrative activities of the department.
    • Participate in delivery of hospital strategic plan and performance contract.
    Qualifications and Experience
    • Masters Degree in Medicine (Mmed) or Surgery from the University of Nairobi or any other recognized University.
    • At least one sub-specialization or interest in the respective specialty.
    • Proven experience of not less than one (1) year at the level of Medical Specialist.
    • Specialist  Recognition  and  retention Certificate  from  the  Medical  Practitioners  and Dentist Board of Kenya.
    • Evidence of research and at least two (2) professional publications in reputable local or international journals on particular scientific findings/practices in the relevant field.
    • Computer literate.

    Resource Mobilisation Manager

    Job purpose
    • Reporting to the Deputy Director, Affiliations & Institutional Development, the Resource Mobilisation Manager will be expected to take a leading role in the Hospital resource mobilization programmes.
    Key responsibilities
    • Developing and implementing local and international resource mobilization strategies.
    • Identifying a funding base and fundraising partners and writing funding proposals.
    • Building and sustaining a sound relationship with Government agencies, donors and potential partners.
    • Facilitating resource mobilization programmes within the Hospital.
    • Sensitizing the hospital stakeholders on resources mobilization activities.
    • Assist in mobilising non-financial resources from private sector entities, individuals and corporate entities.
    • Develop a fund generation and resource mobilisation workplan and constantly follow-up the implementation of the plan.
    Qualification and work experience
    • Master’s degree in Communication or Business Administration from a recognized University.
    • Holder of a degree in either Business Administration or Communication with specialization in marketing and/or fundraising from a recognized University.
    • Proven work experience of not less than five years in fundraising and/or marketing in a large multi-sector organization.
    • A good portfolio of both local and international fundraising contacts and associates will be an added advantage.

    Dental Specialist II

    Job purpose
    • The Dental Specialist II will be responsible to the Senior Dental Specialist for the management of patients in the Department of Dentistry.
    Key responsibilities
    • Participating in the planning and delivery of efficient and high standards to dental care of patients.

    Chief Human Resource Officer I

    Job purpose
    Reporting to the Deputy Human Resource Manager, Employee Services, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the planning, coordination, organization and general Human Resource management services in the hospital.
    Key responsibilities
    • Analysing the staffing levels and making proposals for succession planning
    • Handling all Discipline cases, Resignation, Retirement, Leave and Allowances.
    • Preparing agenda for the Staff Disciplinary and Advisory Committee (SDAC).
    • Ensuring correct interpretation and implementation of human resource regulations relating to pensions, salary administration, labour laws and other statutes relating to human resource management.
    • Develop, implement and maintain human resources and promote awareness on regulatory compliance.
    • Participating in preparation of annual budgets for the department.
    • Evaluate internal processes and provide solutions that will ensure services to employees are timely and transparent.
    • Supporting quality Assurance / OSHE initiatives in the Department
    • Produce reports on key metrics, including remuneration and benefits, absenteeism and turnover.
    • Provide supervision, guidance, mentorship and coaching to help staff realise their full potential.
    • Provide technical advice to HR business partners in the hospital.
    Qualifications and Experience
    • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, labour relations management or its equivalent from a recognised university.
    • Post graduate Higher Diploma in Human Resource management from a recognised institution or CPS(K).
    • Working experience of at least three (3) years at a senior management level in a large organisation.
    • Must be conversant with human resource management information system.
    • Must be a member of the Human Resource professional body (IHRM).
    • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police.

    Chief Accountant I

    Job purpose
    • The Chief Accountant I will be responsible to the Deputy Director, Finance for provision of quality accounting and advisory services.
    Key responsibilities
    • Interpretation of financial policies as contained in Government circulars and in conformity with the Exchequer and Audit Act.
    • Formulation and implementation of Hospital financial policies and regulations.
    • Development and implementation of sound and effective accounting systems.
    • Budgeting and costing of Hospital activities.

    Chief Superintendent (Building)

    Job purpose
    • The Chief Superintendent (Building) will be responsible to the Hospital Engineer for planning of building programmes and maintenance of buildings.

    • Preparation of design drawings and specifications

    Pharmacist I

    Job purpose
    The Pharmacist I will be responsible to the Senior Pharmacist for ensuring delivery of pharmaceutical services at unit level.
    Key responsibilities
    • Preparing medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
    • Dispensing medication by compounding, packaging and labelling pharmaceuticals.
    • Control medication by monitoring drug therapies and advising interventions.
    • Complete pharmacy operational requirements by organising and directing technologists workflow, verifying their preparation and labelling of pharmaceuticals, verifying order entries, charges and inspections.
    • Provide pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals, counselling patients on drug therapies.
    • Develop Hospital staff pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programmes, training pharmacy staff, students, interns and health care professionals.
    • Comply with drug laws as regulated by Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
    • Maintaining records for controlled substances, removing obsolete stock from pharmacy inventory.
    • Protecting patients and support staff by adhering to infection control protocols.
    • Maintain pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
    • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as required.
    • Consult with physicians and staff to clarify medication orders.
    • Ensure that controlled substances are dispensed in compliance with law and that inventory control and record keeping requirements are met.
    Qualifications and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
    • Must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
    • Computer application skills.
    • At least three (3) years post registration experience in an NHIF accredited health facility.
    • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police.

    Chief Security and Safety Services Officer

    Job purpose
    The Chief Security and Safety Services Officer will be responsible to the Security and Safety Services Manager for the overall development, documentation, administration and implementation of security related strategies in the Hospital.
    Key responsibilities
    • Setting performance targets and ensuring that they are achieved.
    • Formulating guidelines, procedures and measures for security control in the Hospital.
    • Ensuring security of buildings, plant, equipment, hospital grounds and patients.
    • Ensuring that access to the Hospital grounds, administrative areas, hostels for both students and medical doctors and the wards are properly secured.
    • Participating in the preparation of expenditure estimates for the unit and ensure prudent utilization of funds allocated.
    Qualifications and Experience
    • Bachelor degree in any security studies/management or relevant security field and a Diploma in criminology or security management.
    • At least five (5) years working experience at the level of Superintendent of police in the Kenya Police or Military service.
    • Crime detection, investigation and report writing skills.
    • Experience and knowledge of CCTV and integrated security systems.
    • Computer application skills.
    • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal investigations.

    Medical Officer - Emergency Medicine and Critical Care

    Job purpose
    • The Medical Officer will be responsible to the Head of Department for provision of quality health care services to clients.
    Key responsibilities
    • Receiving, examining and filtering patients.
    • Managing and treating of general illness/diseases or referral of patients for specialized treatment where necessary.Managing of a wide range of medical and health services.
    • Directing health education and control measures for preventable diseases andinjuries.
    • Determining the adequacy of the work environment.
    • Carrying out and implementing research projects in collaboration with medical specialists.
    • Providing quality emergency medical care service.
    • Providing formal and informal training to other health personnel working under him/her.
    Qualifications and Experience
    • A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBCHB) degree from a recognized university.
    • A current practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (Kenya).
    • A current retention certificate by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (Kenya).
    • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) will be an added advantage.
    • At least one (1) year post internship.
    • This position is on a three (3) year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance and will be a full time posting.

    Deputy Laundry Manager

    Job purpose
    • The Deputy Laundry Manager will be responsible to the Laundry Manager for the efficient operations of the unit.
    Key responsibilities
    • Ensuring collection of soiled linen from the user points.
    • Overseeing the washing, ironing, pressing, folding and inspection of linen.

    Legal Officer II

    Job purpose
    • The Legal Officer II will be responsible to the Senior Legal Officer for all legal matters in the Hospital.
    Key responsibilities
    • Preparing and reviewing legal contracts, deeds, leases, and other legal papers of a routine nature;
    • Researching on relevant statutes, rulings and precedents to be used as a basis for answering requests for legal opinions;
    • Handling all legal matters including litigations in liaison with external lawyers;
    • Providing legal advice and ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements;
    • Maintaining a comprehensive database of all legal matters with up to date progress;
    • Reviewing and formulating legal policies, procedures and regulations;
    • Reviewing recent legislation, court cases, correspondence and publications pointing out matters of note or which necessitate management action;
    • Liaising with other departments in managing legal matters;
    • Assisting in the provision of company secretarial duties to the Board of Directors as and when the need arises;
    • Attending court and relevant registries as and when required to;
    • Conducting legal awareness and education to Hospital staff;
    Qualifications and Experience
    • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university;
    • Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
    • An advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current Practicing Certificate;
    • A registered member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing;
    • Have a minimum of one year post-admission experience in a busy legal department/environment.

    Job purpose

    Job purpose

    Laundry Machine Operators

    Job purpose
    • The Laundry Machine Operators will be responsible to the Laundry Manager for the overall Laundry Machine operations and maintenance.
    Key responsibilities
    • Operating the laundry machines.
    • Weighing of linen and loading into the washing machine.
    • Offloading of linen from the washing machine.
    • Drying, calendar ironing, pressing and steaming of clean linen.
    • Detecting any faults and reporting.
    • Ensuring that planned preventive maintenance schedule is followed.
    • Preparing daily reports on status of machines.
    • Ensuring periodic inspection of the laundry machines.
    Qualifications and Experience
    • A minimum of KCSE Mean grade D+ (Plus) or its accepted equivalent.
    • Two (2) years certificate in House Keeping and Laundry from Utalii College, Kenya Polytechnic or any other recognised
    • institution.
    • Proven experience of at least two (2) years in an established laundry business.
    • Computer literacy will be an added advantage.

    Job purpose
    • Farewell Home Assistant III will be responsible to the Senior Farewell Home Assistant for the farewell home operations.
    Key responsibilities
    • Cleaning and disinfecting walls and cabinets
    • Collecting bodies from the wards and bringing them to the mortuary.
    • Cleaning, disinfecting and treating bodies.
