    Field Logistics Assistant

    Purpose of the job: To provide the project staff with efficient logistical and procurement support ensuring effective project implementation. The incumbent will be in charge of direct implementation of procurement activities in consultation with Project Manager and as requested by project staff.
    Location: Dollow district with travels to the other operation district as may be required from time to time.
    Direction: The position holder will work under the guidance and in close cooperation with the Project Manager and in the collaboration with all field staff. He is directly responsible for logistical arrangements and procurement of project input for the communities and staff.

    Responsibilities for the Field Logistics Assistant Job

    Administration

    • Keeping and updating all administration filing systems of the project stores.
    • Daily informing the line manager of VSF staff position in the field as well as security situation
    • Ensuring that the records of the log book of the car are done properly
    • Keeping the cash book of VSF-G and submitting the monthly expenditure schedules to the Operations /Finance Officer. Expenditure will be done under the supervision of the Project Manager.
    • Responsible for the VSF office cleanliness and maintenance. This includes supervision of the support staff (if any)and ensure the efficiency in the performance of their duties.

    Logistics

    • Keeping daily telephone/radio contacts with staff in Gedo; Dollow and Luuq Districts, keeping an updated staff messages book.
    • Booking VSF staff and cargo as requested on WFP/UNHAS or commercial flights in collaboration with the Regional Office Nairobi (RON) logistics
    • Ordering items in timely manner as requested by staff and approved by the Project Manager.
    • Keeping stock cards updated for all stores at all times.
    • Keeping an updated inventory of all VSF-G permanent properties (office, store, tukuls) and field locations and sending it to Nairobi office
    • Responsible for the maintenance of the equipment in the whole office.
    • Responsible for the accommodation and transport for VSF staff and goods

    Field Logistics Assistant Job Minimum Qualifications

    • At least 2 year experience in logistics position within an international organization
    • Computer skills with ability to use the Microsoft office packages.
    • A diploma in administration, logistics or related fields
    • Working knowledge of Gedo and Somalia in general
    • Experience in security management is a an advantage
    • English mandatory (oral and written)
    • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
    • Ability to work without constant supervision
    • Good organizational skills, co-ordination and the transfer of knowledge
    • Good communication skills and a commitment to team work

    Project Officer

    Expected results/impacts

    • Livelihoods are improved through animal health and fisheries activities in Dollow and Luuq.
    • Purpose of the job: To provide technical expertise and support in planning, implementation monitoring, reporting and communication to the Project Manager and the project field teams. The PV will be in charge of direct implementation of all veterinary activities including training of CAHWs, treatments and collection of treatment records as well as liaison with SOWELPA on all animal health interventions.
    • Location: Dollow with frequent travel to support the CAHWs in the field in Dollow and Luuq districts.
    • Direction: The position holder will work under the guidance of the Project Manager in providing support to CAHWs and in close collaboration with SOWELPA.
    • He is directly responsible for actual implementation of all activities under livestock component in the project.

    • Play a leading role in the developing training and visibility materials for animal health services.
    • Monitor the work of all the CAHWs in collaboration with SOWELPA.
    • Liaise with the Project Manager for all decisions related to delivery of animal health services.
    • Coordinate and organize stakeholder meetings, related to livestock interventions.

    Project Reporting

    • At least 3 years working experience with CAHW, including training and supervision under non-government organizations.
    • Strong working experience in emergency delivery of Animal Health and husbandry services as income generating activities;
    • Experience in coordination with national and international actors in livestock sector; gender and youth issues.
    • Working experience in monitoring and evaluation and knowledge management.
    • Ability to promote team work for effective and efficient output.
    • Regional experience / Knowledge of the region and country of operation.
    • Fluency in spoken and written English.

    Field Officer

    Purpose of the job: To provide technical expertise and support in planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and communication to the Senior Project Officer and Project Manager. The Field Officer will be in charge of direct implementation of project activities.
    Location: Dollow or Luuq district field locations with travels to Head Office in Dollow as may be required from time to time.
    Direction: The position holder will work under the guidance and in close cooperation with the Senior Project Officer and in collaboration with all field staff. He is directly responsible for community mobilization and actual activity implementation.

    Field Officer Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Works with the Senior Project Officer and by extension Project Manger to gather information and materials used with the beneficiaries and local communities.
    • Conduct both structured and unstructured trainings of the community on the implementation of various project activities; community awareness, organizing of training venues, distribution of project input to beneficiaries, etc.
    • Oversee implementation of all project activities by beneficiaries in selected villages
    • Interact with the community and compiles report for the Senior Project Officer.
    • Conduct community meetings to update them on progress of the implementation
    • Mobilize the community in the selection of project beneficiaries for monitoring, supervision & accountability.
    • Mobilize the community to ensure their participation in appraisal of progress of the project.
    • Provide periodic updates to the Senior Project Officer /Project Manager on the progress of activities in the Field.
    • Organize and plan for community sensitization meetings on various project aspects.
    • Conduct house hold field visits to assess the needs and progress of activities implementation.
    • Collect data for baseline surveys e.g. beneficiary profiles, market surveys etc.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Line Manager.

    Minimum Qualifications for the Field Officer Job

    • At least a Diploma qualification in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Agricultural Science, Animal Science, or similar discipline.
    • At least 3 years working experience as a Field Officer (or similar position) in implementation of donor-funded projects.
    • At least 3 years working experience in emergency interventions linked to Cash for work, Food security and livelihood or working with community based groups in similar activities.
    • Experience in liaison with national and international actors in community based interventions, gender and youth issues.
    • Good knowledge in monitoring and documentation of knowledge management.
    • Ability to promote team work for effective and efficient output.
    • Fluency in spoken and written English will be an added advantage
