    Manager, IT Business Continuity

    Job Purpose

    Manage the implementation and day-to-day functions related to creating Business Continuity Plans and Procedures. Assume ownership and management of the overall business recovery process Assume responsibility for ensuring development of the recovery plans and procedures governing the remote Business Sites and Operations. Perform IT Business Impact Assessment (BIA)

    Monitor the business recovery plan development and scheduled deliverables for IT. Publish the plan and distribute to stakeholders. Ensure maintenance of the plans through annual review Ensure that all plans are backed up quarterly and rotated to off-site storage The role is responsible for developing, testing, implementing, supporting, and maintaining Business Recovery Plans. Facilitates and coordinates the development of work area (business function) business continuity plans for all IT business units. Provide Business Continuity Planning documentation and training to IT employees having a need to understand the Business Continuity Planning process. Also provide training to ensure continued awareness.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    • Contributes to creation / maintenance of BCM and IT Service Continuity policies standards, strategy, and processes. The role ensures that business continuity capability is in place. Responsible and accountable for mitigating identified risks.
    • Responsible for driving IT areas on the development of business continuity documentation and continuity plans.
    • Determines BCM gaps and drives service and delivery mechanism to address these.
    • Develops and provides IT management with reports on status of IT Business Continuity Capability
    • Manages teams relationships - Group IT Business Units, IT Group Functional areas, Risk, Business Continuity Management, Internal and External Auditors
    • Plan, establish and execute IT Business continuity process

    Preferred Qualification And Experience

    • 5-7 Years of experience in a similar role or equivalent
    • Relevant IT qualification .i.e. BSC in Computer Science

    Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

    • Business Continuity Management Certificate
    • IT Service Continuity Management Certificate (ITIL)
    • IT Project Management will be an added advantage

    Business Manager TPS Kenya

    Job Details

     

    Transactional Products & Services; This team is constantly working to extend our service capability and product range, consolidating our operations in established markets while expanding and extending in emerging markets. We divide our core capabilities into three product groups – Investor Services, Transactional Banking and International Trade Services.

     

    Job Purpose

    To assist in the development and execution of the transaction banking strategy by primarily leading the financial and business planning process, providing analysis that will support decision making and driving productivity.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    Strategic

    • To develop a sustainable and measurable business model for transaction banking across the Kenyan market
    • To articulate and implement the business strategy for transaction banking across Kenya in alignment with broader Corporate and Investment Bank strategy.
    • To assist the Head of TPS in building strategic focus by providing analysis around market share growth, client segments, products and channels.
    • To quantify and provide the Kenyan management team with analysis of the impact of economic and market trends and changes to customer requirements and competitors to support performance management and strategy development.
    • To monitor, track and report financial performance and sales activities across all product lines, Cash Management, Trade Finance and Investor Services ensuring that transaction banking is able to maximize revenue and profitability.
    • To provide feedback and assistance to all areas of transaction banking; Sales, Product Management, Client Access, to ensure that both customer and local requirements are incorporated into ongoing plans and initiatives
    • Stakeholder engagement – ensure that the TPS agenda is fully aligned with all our key stakeholders managing expectations for both parties.
    • Drive the #Futureproof programme for TPS Kenya

    Business Management / Financial Performance

    • Reporting – management of the Kenya transaction banking financials on a regular basis to management performance
    • Budgets – work with the country heads to develop country level budgets and targets for revenue and cost
    • Performance Forecasts – work with the business heads to develop monthly, quarterly and annual product targets across Cash Management, Trade Finance and Investor Services
    • Pipeline Management – ensure that countries have appropriately maintained revenue opportunities, tracking these for closure against the agreed budgets and/or targets.
    • Cost Management – monitor and control expenditure across TPS.

    Business Administration / Presentation

    • Conduct internal/external research on subject matters required by the Head of TPS and/or his management team
    • Write up research reports on the above and present / disseminate to the relevant stakeholders
    • Coordinate and consolidate TPS submissions for the various Exco and Govco reports
    • Draft presentations and documentation as required by the Head of TPS
    • Provide administrative support to selected members of the TPS management committee
    • Participate in and coordinate TPS Management committee forums. This includes the administrative functions of minute taking, drafting of minutes and the agenda as well as noting and tracking of action items

    People

    • Work with the TPS Management Team to agree and implement a ‘People Strategy’

    Governance

    • Ensure Country compliance on Audit, Control and financial reporting standards as they relate to TPS.

    Preferred Qualification And Experience

    • Bachelors degree in Commerce, preferably with majors in Business Economics
    • MBA would be advantageous
    • 3-5 years management experience in banking, preferably in Corporate and Investment Banking
    • An understanding of the key areas in Corporate and Investment Banking
    • Working experience in African markets
    • Working experience in a client facing role

    • Expert knowledge of financial management and analysis
    • In-depth knowledge of the local market, customers and competitors

    Officer, Reconciliation and Reporting

    Job Details

    Group Finance: Budgeting and forecasting, creating interim and annual financial statements, facilitating internal mergers and acquisitions, as well as dealing with analysts and investors.

    Job Purpose

    • To ensure the overall integrity and accuracy of the General Ledger as a basis for the preparation of financial and management reports.
    • Custodian of the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts.
    • Preparation of financial reports.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    Reconciliation of trial balance accounts and preparation of the balance sheet substantiation pack

    • Reconciliation of all trial balance accounts on a monthly basis and investigation of anomalies.
    • Accruals reconciliation. Providing a monthly listing of accruals.
    • Listing bad debt and other provisions to explain cause of movements.
    • Preparation of balance sheet account listings for purposes for the monthly balance sheet substantiation.
    • Monitoring expenses against budget and ensuring correct cost center mapping.
    • Providing listings and reconciliations for other ledger accounts as requested from time to time.

    Regulatory reporting

    • Preparation of various management reports/returns as per regulatory guidelines.
    • Submission of the reports as per the agreed deadlines.
    • Filing of the submissions for record keeping and audit purposes.

    Management reporting

    • Monthly preparation and circulation of management report.
    • Quarterly preparation of industry analysis for board reporting.
    • Monthly preparation and commission report by distribution channel.
    • Budget preparation.

    Month-end reporting

    • Assist in coming up with the trial balance by ensuring all necessary entries have been processed.
    • Upload of end month Clear Vision trial balance movements into SAP.

    Debt management

    • Weekly reconciliation of custodial client accounts against brokerage commission payment schedules received and investigation of any variances.
    • Communication to custodial clients on brokerage commission outstanding and follow up of the same.

    Monitoring and reconciling the related parties account

      • Posting of intercompany transactions.
      • Liaising with Stanbic bank and other group companies to establish nature and accuracy of transactions.
      • Reconciling the intercompany account.

    Employee debtors reconciliation

        • Preparing a schedule of outstanding employee debt to establish amounts receivable from various staff.
        • Communication of outstanding amounts to the respective staff and follow up for submission of imprest returns.
        • Ensuring that imprest returns are reconciled and posted to clear outstanding amounts.

    Filing tax returns- VAT, Withholding tax, Withholding VAT and Stamp duty

        • Reconciliation of the tax ledgers on a monthly basis and follow up to resolve any anomalies.
        • Filing the tax returns on iTax and E-tax platforms and payment of the same by the monthly deadline dates.
        • Filling in the details of tax returned filed for the month on Encompass, for submission to group.

    Preferred Qualification And Experience

        • A first degree in Business preferably a major in Accounting.
        • At least 3 years’ experience within an accounting role.

    Professional Qualifications

        • CPA (K) or ACCA.

    Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise

      • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of bank and other reconciliations.
      • Have a good understanding of reporting.
      • Knowledge of the Capital Markets Authority and Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE).
