    Chief Corporate Communication Officer

    Ref: (KSC/ADVT/002/2017)

    Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

    1. Developing and implementing sound corporate communications policies, plans and strategies.
    2. Coordination of the corporate communication function to ensure effective flow of organizational business communication.
    3. Preparing and implementing of corporate communications budgets.
    4. Developing, implementing and overseeing the corporate communications programmes.
    5. Preparing speeches and messages for delivery and publication.
    6. Promoting and maintaining the Company’s corporate image and identity.
    7. Establishing and sustaining linkages with external organizations, stakeholders and the general publics.
    8. Maintaining and developing linkages with media houses to facilitate good communication and ensure fair and accurate coverage of Company programmes.
    9. Liaising with the media agencies to ensure sustainable media relations.
    10. Advising management on media related issues including identifying appropriate responses and communication channels.
    11. Organizing and co-coordinating corporate events, exhibitions and trade fairs.
    12. Preparing relevant articles such as brochures, newsletters, documentaries and photography for internal and external publication.
    13. Ensuring customer complaints and or concerns are promptly addressed.
    14. Championing customer service initiatives by promoting professional and positive image of the Company.
    15. Demonstrable knowledge of strategic management processes
    16. Preparing and submitting monthly and quarterly reports in a clear and concise manner.
    17. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of communication channels and provide recommendations for improvement.
    18. Providing guidance, mentorship, motivation and supervision to staff in the Department.
    19. Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

    Minimum requirements

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism or any other related field.
    2. Post-graduate Diploma in Mass Communication or equivalent.
    3. Have a minimum of 8 (eight) years post qualification experience 4 of which should be at middle management level
    4. Experience in providing advice on public relations strategies and public awareness campaigns
    5. Strong knowledge of current trends in communication and media relations
    6. Demonstrable exposure to a computerized work environment with good working knowledge of ICT applications.
    7. Excellent communication (written and oral), presentation, public relation and interpersonal skills
    8. Excellent organizational and planning skills
    9. High degree of creativity, judgment and attention to detail
    10. Member of Public Relations Society of Kenya
    11. Comply with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010
    12. High level of integrity and accountability
    13. Team player

    Farm Manager

    Ref: (KSC/ADVT/001/2017)

    Reporting to the Head of Production (Elgon Downs Farm/Basic Seed Unit), the successful candidate will be responsible for:-

    1. Assisting in the overall farm management including allocation of land for production of basic seed, farm rotational
      programmes and farm infrastructure.
    2. Assisting in planning, preparation and implementation of farm budgets.
    3. Handling the allocation and distribution of farm inputs such as chemicals, fertilizer, seed, fuel etc.
    4. Ensuring proper allocation and use of farm labour.
    5. Overseeing and ensuring that the field officers carry out all details of crop husbandry including land preparation, planting,
      weed control, insect and pest control, harvesting and delivery of seed and other farm inputs.
    6. Assisting in ensuring that there is proper utilization of all company vehicles and machinery.
    7. Ensuring that all farm machinery and equipment are in good working condition and properly serviced.
    8. Assisting in ensuring efficient utilization of the irrigation system.
    9. Coordinating the activities of all other sections within the farm such as farm accounts, ICT, procurement, store, livestock and
      field operations to ensure they perform their roles effectively and efficiently.
    10. In liaison with Head of Production, develop strategies towards transforming the farm into a model farm.
    11. Coordinating work patterns/arrangements and operations to ensure smooth and efficient running of the farm.
    12. Ensuring adherence to all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices.
    13. Assisting in guidance, mentorship, motivation and supervision of staff in the Department.
    14. Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

    Minimum requirements

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, or any other related field.
    2. Have a minimum of 8 (eight) years post qualification experience 4 of which should be at middle management level
    3. Exposure to a highly mechanized farm operations
    4. Excellent knowledge of crop and animal husbandry
    5. Excellent analytical skills
    6. Ability to apply technical knowledge in a practical environment
    7. Have an initiative mindset
    8. Have good communication, public relation and interpersonal skills
    9. Demonstrable exposure to a computerized work environment with good working knowledge of ICT applications.
    10. Demonstrable knowledge of strategic management processes
    11. Comply with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010
    12. High level of integrity and accountability
    13. Team player

    Appointment to the position of Farm Manager is on 3 years contract term renewable subject to satisfactory performance while that of Chief Corporate Communications Officer is on Permanent and Pensionable terms.
