    Channel Development Manager

    Job Description

    DEPARTMENT: CASH MANAGEMENT

    REPORTS TO: SENIOR MANAGER, e-CHANNELS & e-COMMERCE

    JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

    The purpose of the role is to provide business support in the implementation and management of electronic channels’ enhancements.

    This includes end to end management of new and enhancements of electronic channels i.e. successfully take the project from concept to commercialization.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Channel Enrichment Initiatives: Conceptualize new ideas, research the new ideas, and evaluate them objectively from a market and financial standpoint (18%)
    • Market and client research (18%)
    • New channel development and implementation 18%)
    • Tracking Channel KPIs to increase the utilization of the channels to current and prospective customers of CBA in order to generate maximum income (18%)
    • Promote product awareness via appropriate internal training and marketing collateral (18%)
    • Regional channel review and implementation (10%) COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Technical skills to effectively perform implementation and management of E-Channels activities/tasks in a manner that consistently achieves high quality standards or benchmarks.
    • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with and manage customer expectations (internal and external), and other stakeholders who impact performance.
    • Knowledge and effective application of all relevant banking strategies, policies, processes, procedures, guidelines and project management methodology and to consistently achieve required compliance standards or benchmarks.

    • At least 5 years’ experience in business management/product management/system analyst role in the financial sector 
    • Excellent knowledge of operational and systems user requirements for financial products
    • Excellent understanding of the principles and techniques of project management and the ability to apply them

    Head, Group Financial Planning & Reporting

    Job Description

    DEPARTMENT: GROUP FINANCE & STRATEGY

    REPORTS TO: GROUP CHIEF FINANCE OFFICER

    JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

    The main purpose of the role is to direct, coordinate and prepare the group’s corporate plans (in conjunction with Group Strategy), budgets and performance tracking and review, provision of specialized technical analysis of business initiatives such as new investments, feasibility studies, capital management and competitor financial analysis. The role will be responsible for management of financial data, control over relevant data marts, data base mining, preparation of executive dashboards, and business partner to profit and cost centres. Specifically to participate and support implementation and entrenchment of financial management culture, policies, tools, processes and procedures that ensure internal efficiencies, and effective preparation and dissemination of financial information for management decision making and statutory reporting purposes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Financial Reporting and Controls (30%)
      • Ensure that proper books of accounts are kept in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards and the applicable laws and regulations in Kenya.
      • Ensure that the group’s operating business entities monthly financial reports are prepared accurately and circulated to all users within agreed time lines. These reports include; monthly management accounts, performance analysis reports, business units’ reports and ALCO reports.
      • Coordinate the preparation of the group’s operating business entities annual budgets 
      • Monitor performance against budget and provide monthly variance analysis report.
      • Ensure that expenses incurred are in accordance with Group policies.
    • Financial Planning and Budgeting (20%) 
      • Guide the development of group financial plans & budgets
      • Directing and consolidating business financial plans and budgets into corporate/group financial plans and budgets 
      • Control operating expense through strict approval procedure for all amounts within prescribed limits. Monitor departmental expenses vis-à-vis budget on a monthly basis and follow-up negative variances.
      • Provides efficient transaction processing services with respect to capital and operating expenses of Kenya operating entities.
    • Prevention of exposure and minimisation of inherent risks (10%)
      • Champion for the department’s Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process.
      • Documents all processes and procedures to drive adherence Business Performance Management (20%) 
      • Constructively challenge, input and maximise value in key business areas and drive exceptional business performance through business partnering. 
      • Seeking opportunities for savings for the group operating entities in operating expenses management 
      • Collate and provide accurate information required by rating and lending agencies.
      • Foster stakeholder relationships and ensure eye-on-the-goal approach with least duplications across all support projects and teams. 
      • Continuously reviewing business performance against budgets with various business heads (Corporate, Personal Banking, NBV, Cash management, Business Banking, Trade Finance, CBA Insurance, CBA Capital CFOs of various subsidiaries and cost centre heads.
      • Interpretation of market intelligence and competitor analysis reports.
      • Providing decision support and technical financial analysis on matters of strategic projects and capex.
      • Commercial due diligence, competitor analysis and product costing pricing. 
      • Advise ALCO on key business parameters and their impact on the plans on a monthly basis. 
      • Providing the group financial performance and future outlook for investor forums, rating agencies etc.
    • Management information systems (10%)
      • Develop and implement systems for collating and analyzing financial and operational data to provide relevant management information and reports to specified stakeholders.
      • Quality of MIS, Dashboards and financial reports to internal stakeholders.
      • Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for MIS development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
      • Direct, Organize and Lead Projects in the implementation and use of new MIS software tools and systems. 
      • Lead the integration efforts for merging MIS platforms with enterprise systems, applications and programs. 
      • Develop the semantic layer, metadata, data marts, enterprise data warehouse (“EDW”) Business Warehouse (“BW”) report and report definitions.
      • Work in conjunction with IT to implement the organizations systems development life cycle methodology and service oriented architecture (“SOA”).
    • People Performance (10%)
      • Set performance objectives for each member in financial planning & reporting, Business partnering and Management information systems units in accordance with the Department’s overall objectives. 
      • Regularly review people performance to trigger feedback and prompt actions to ensure objectives for individuals and team are met. Such actions include recognition of outstanding performance, taking corrective measures, which may include coaching, mentoring, and training to develop new skills or attitudes.
      • Carry out performance appraisals to provide overall assessment for a set period of performance in a manner that enhances motivation and performance improvements.
      • There is on-going collaboration amongst the staff with other members of the Department, and with other relevant stakeholders in Kenya operating business entities for the purpose of cultivating collective responsibility to achieve business goals.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • University degree in business related studies or equivalent.
    • CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification. 
    • MBA in Finance, Strategy or Business Administration 
    • Ten years post-qualification (accounting) experience in a medium to large corporate organization.
    • Ten years’ work experience in middle management role.
    • Practical experience in use of relevant MS Office applications.
    • Competence in the use of SAP, SAP BODs, SAP BPC and T24.
    • Experience in the financial services industry or banking sector would be an added advantage.
