    Deputy Chief Executive Officer

    Job Description


    Key Duties and responsibilities

    • Development of overall strategies aligned to the Group Strategy together with the CEO and the Board to provide strategic direction to the business.
    • Development of the overall annual financial budgets for the business and ensure alignment of the budget to the strategic objectives for the success of the business.
    • Provide direction and leadership towards the achievement of the institution's philosophy, mission, strategy as part of the entire Group.
    • Accountable to the Board of Directors for the operations of the country business and provide recommendations for improvements or new opportunities within the market for growth.
    • Review the integrity of all control systems and management processes including risk management to safeguard the reputation of the institution at all times.
    • Lead engagement with the institution’s stakeholders to understand issues and develop relationships, in particular clients and customers, employees, governments and regulators, business partners, rating agencies, the media, special interest groups who have legitimate concerns or involvement and the communities in which the institution and the Group operates.

    Key Qualifications and Experience

    • The successful candidate must have at least fifteen years’ experience of which at least five years must have been at senior management level in an active commercial environment or a large financial institution.
    • S/he should have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance,
    • Economics or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized university.
    • The incumbent must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) holder with a valid membership to the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or similar qualifications from other recognized professional bodies.

    Technical Competencies

    • The incumbent must possess strong knowledge in budgeting and budgeting control experience.
    • S/he must have strong knowledge of the banking industry and concepts.
    • Must have strong understanding in customer, market and competitor needs.
    • Must demonstrate strong knowledge of the banking regulatory requirements.

    Behavioral Competencies

    • The incumbent must demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills.
    • Must be an able negotiator.
    • Must be able to clearly communicate with fellow staff and key stakeholders.
    • Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
    • Must demonstrate agility and strong adaptability skills.
    • Must possess emotional intelligence and manage emotions in a mature and composed manner as expected.

    Additional Information

    Head of Credit

    Job Description

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Participate in the development of the institution’s strategy in order to ensure alignment of the credit function with the institution and Group’s overall strategy.
    • Overall management of the Credit and Credit Administration Departments and implementation of adequate structures and controls to facilitate quality delivery of credit and high performance by staff.
    • Ensure that the institution has the right systems, processes and policies to guide all aspects of credit monitoring and credit administration.
    • Exercise oversight of the Credit Administration process to ensure management of the credit process and portfolio for the institution across the entire value chain.
    • Work with the Chief Executive Officer and the Head of Finance and Planning, in the evaluation of projected company cash flow through the maintenance of a loan pipeline reports and loan payoff reports.
    • Provide support to the Heads of Credit in the subsidiaries with regard to credit appraisals and identifying potential areas of weakness to minimize credit losses within the business.
    • Provide leadership to grow and maintain a profitable credit portfolio for the institution.

    Key Qualifications and Experience

    • The successful candidate must have at least ten years’ experience with at least five years at senior management level in an active commercial environment or a large financial institution.
    • S/he should have a Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Accounting or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized university.

    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of credit services and a complete understanding of Credit Policy and Procedures.
    • Must have strong knowledge of Central Bank prudential and risk management guidelines.

    General Manager, Business Development

    Job Description

     

    Our client, a leading regional bank is seeking to recruit a highly competent, motivated and professional individual to fill the position of General Manager, Business Development.

    Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the General Manager, Business Development will be responsible for the provision of strategic leadership in business development in line with bank’s overall strategy.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership in the development and achievement of the Bank’s annual financial targets on business development and to ensure that Bank is on track to achieve its tri-annual business development plans.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures that give the Bank a competitive advantage whilst fully adhering to all statutory, regulatory guidelines.
    • Continuously review business case for all products and business units of the Bank (including business units like branches) to ensure that all products and business units contribute positively to the strategic goals of the Bank.
    • Coordinate the development of the annual and tri-annual financial plans and budgets for the various departments under direct supervision.
    • Increase market share in line with strategic ambitions and in a profitable, ethical and sustainable manner.
    • Direct the overall effort of the business units in growing business in optimum proportions so as to achieve set targets.
    • Identify and disseminate market opportunities and information to guide business development efforts and product development.
    • Improve the audit and other risk rating for the business development departments and set thresholds as per the key performance indicators.
    • Maintain the appropriate number and caliber human resources in order to deliver exceptional service, achieve targets and maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the business.
    • Market and manage client relationships in the region; and develop and deepen relationships with existing and potential customers.

    Key Qualifications and Experience

    • At least 15 years’ all round banking experience, 7 of which should have been in a senior management capacity in the area of business development.
    • Bachelor’s degree (in a business related field) from a recognised accredited university with a Master’s degree in strategic management or business administration, or other similar relevant qualification.
    • Professional accounting qualification or ICT qualification will be an added advantage
