    Land Information Assistant - Gs5

    Job Description

    The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) Is an Intergovernmental Organization which provides services in surveying, mapping, remote sensing. GIS and ICT to its Member States, partners and clients. It has twenty Member States in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region. Our Mission is to promote sustainable development in the Member States through generation, application and dissemination of geo-information and allied ICT services, products and services.

    Reporting to the land Management Officer, the Land Information

    Assistant will handle and coordinate various reports, documents and Information received from the field for transmittal (paper and electronic) to clients, maintain databases, and correspondence with clients.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Analyze and verify information in relation to maps, ownership and occupation of Land and property:
    • Capture, analyze and document land Information as required:
    • Participate In implementation of LIMS projects:
    • Apply Innovative land administration tools and methodologies to make land rights delivery faster, cheaper, easier and more responsible and:
    • Participate in training and capacity building activities in all areas of land administration

    Qualifications and experience

    • Bachelor's degree in in areas related to Land Surveying.
    • GIS. Environmental Science. Natural Resource Management, Environmental engineering.
    • Land economics or Sustainable Land Management; and
    • Three (3) years of experience in the field.

    Technical Expert - Servir E&sa; Project

    Job Description

    The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) Is an Intergovernmental Organization which provides services in surveying, mapping, remote sensing. GIS and ICT to its Member States, partners and clients. It has twenty Member States in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region. Our Mission is to promote sustainable development in the Member States through generation, application and dissemination of geo-information and allied ICT services, products and services.

    Reporting to the relevant Thematic Lead, the individual shall be required to work on general work plan development, needs assessments and any other technical duties as may be agreed upon. In addition to the above, the Individual shall be required to undertake the below mentioned assignments:

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Interpretation and appropriate implementation of SERVIR-ESA work plans in line with your thematic line.
    • Acquisition, interpretation and analysis of remote sensing and GIS data. In line with the SERVIR results frame work and work plan.
    • Analysis of any other a-spatial data that relates to their work
    • Drafting technical reports, product dissemination articles, scientific etc., In Ilne with their work.
    • Drafting technical proposals that relate to your duties. 
    • Coordinate and participate in field work activities related to your work. 
    • Coordinate and offer support to the GIT team with regard to creation and/or implementation of tools designed to disseminate your products/outputs.
    • Provide input to User Engagement.
    • M&E. and Capacity Development Leads in liaison with the Thematic Leads.
    • Offer advisory and technical support to technical sections within RCMRD that conduct work related your expertise.

    Qualifications and experience

    • Bachelor's degree In Ecology. Rangeland Management. Ecological Modelling. Water Resources Management.
    • Climate Change. Meteorology and Weather related fields.
    • Disaster Management, Climate related disaster resilience with a strong bias to application of limo-Information (RS/GIS) in these fields;
    • At least four (4) years demonstrated experience in use of GIS and RS In the above fields with either a published output (maps. portals. papers. technical reports etc.) being be an added advantage.
    • Ability to demonstrate good understanding of major environment and climate related issues facing the eastern and southern Africa region. 
    • Capable of interpreting Ideas and suggesting appropriate geo-spatial tools and/or techniques usable for solving a problem.
