    Cereals Growers Association (CGA) is a national non-profit member-based farmer organization incorporated in August 1996. Its main purpose is to bring together commercial cereal farmers to promote collective action for the sustained improvement of their farming enterprises and in addressing industry challenges in Kenya.     Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant

    Job Description

    CGA seeks to fill the position of a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant to be based in Nairobi.

    Terms of employment: Contract

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Manager with a dotted line to the Project Officer, the M&E assistant will work with the M&E team to ensure that the CGA programs M&E needs are being met.

    Key roles and responsibilities

    • Monitor & track progress of all the projects activities and giving feedback to the project team & other stakeholders in the public & private sector.
    • Conduct Program monitoring of the day to day activities and ensure feedback is given to the team.
    • Conduct project surveys
    • Documents lessons learnt for knowledge management
    • Submit monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual updates to the Program Officers and the Project Coordinator.
    • Provide data analysis to check the quality of the data from field reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual).
    • Ensure that Indicator Performance Tracking Tables (IPTTs) are accurately updated.
    • Ensure that means of verification of different results (supporting documents) are in place.
    • Develop various data collection tools.
    • Undertake accurate project data collection and entry.
    • Assist the project personnel with the necessary M & E tools and support them in their use.
    • Be the point of contact in management of the farmer recruitment and management tool
    • Take lead in digital inscription of questionnaires into online data collection tools like KOBO collect

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture related field, statistics or social sciences;
    • At least 3 years working experience;
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision and meet strict deadlines;
    • Experience working with online data tools like ODK, Survey CTO, KOBO collect etc.
    • Ability to generate and present quality project reports
    • Proficient with Ms office suite- Must particularly be very good with Ms Excel
    • Ability to use at least one statistical package like SPSS, Nvivo etc

    Skill

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, networking and training skills;
    • Excellent IT skills in Microsoft packages;
    • Analytical skills
    • Strong report writing skills.

    Field Officer

    Job Description

    Terms of employment: Contract

    Location: Homabay County

    CGA seeks to fill the position of a Field Officer in the above county.

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Project Officer, the Field Officer will take lead role in the co-ordination of all field activities in the assigned County. S/he will mobilize smallholder farmers into business-oriented groups for collective action towards training, input access, credit access and produce aggregation to select off-takers. The FO will prepare and submit field progress reports as may be directed by their supervisor.

    Key roles and responsibilities

    • Coordinate all field activities in the assigned county including farmer profiling to create a database;
    • Facilitate partnerships with other actors such as county governments, input suppliers, insurance service providers, buyers and financial institutions in the implementation of field activities;
    • Coordinate the establishment of crop demonstrations and facilitation of farmer field days/market linkage meetings;
    • Facilitate and coordinate grass root farmer training on group management practices, good agricultural practices (GAP) and Post-Harvest Handling and Storage (PHHS) among others;Enhance the visibility of CGA through field activities implemented at the county level;
    • Any other duties as assigned by the Project Officer.
    • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in an Agriculture, Agribusiness Management or Rural Development related field;
    • At least 3 years working experience;Ability to work with minimum supervision and meet strict deadlines;
    • Experience working with smallholder farmers, food security interventions and community development.

    Skills

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, networking and training skills;
    • Excellent IT skills and proficiency Microsoft Office packages;
    • Motorcycle riding skills and possess a valid motorcycle rider’s license;
    • Strong report writing skills.
    • Experience working in the County of interest and ability to communicate in the local language.
