    Field Assistant - Maikona/Turbi

    Job Location: Ward level - Operate from Maikona or Turbi ward and cover both Maikona and Turbi Wards

    Reports to: Officer – Livelihoods, North Horr

    Job Summary

    To develop capacity and support target communities on livelihoods related matters in specified administrative wards of Maikona and Turbi of North Horr Sub County

    Main Duties & Responsibilities

    • Work closely with the line government departments at the ward level including the Ward and Village Administrators, Village Development Committees, Ward Livestock Production Officer, Ward water officer, Ward animal health technician, Ward crop production officer and ward public health team and Community Development Facilitators who are also based in the targeted administrative wards
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to target community groups such as Natural Resource Management groups, Income Generating Groups, Pastoralist Field School Groups, Community Disaster Management Committees and Livestock Marketing Associations amongst others. The technical leadership and mentorship to the groups will entail motivating the group members to undertake the planned activities, document the progress made and provide appropriate feedback to the line manager on support needed for the target groups.
    • Support the target community groups and individuals in target communities in developing work plans and/or action plans as appropriate.
    • Support the target community groups and individuals in target communities access and link with relevant government and private sector actors located within the relevant wards where the field officer is located
    • Link target community groups with government line departments at ward level for continued support
    • Document case studies, at least 1 every month clearly demonstrating changes that are happening within the target communities. This will be through close guidance from the line manager and the M&E officer in Marsabit
    • Represent Concern Worldwide at ward and administrative village level development and coordination forums. All meetings attended will be clearly documented and the information shared to the relevant line manager and the Manager- Livelihoods, Marsabit.
    • Inform the Line Manager and the Manager- Livelihoods of any planned coordination meetings and community participation events happening in the specific wards where the field officer is located. This should happen at immediately the government officers publicize the event and ideally before the planned event happens.
    • Any other duties that will be assigned by the line manager, Manager- Livelihoods, Marsabit, and the Marsabit area coordinator.
    • Responding To Emergencies
      • Participate and contribute as necessary towards Concern’s Emergency response as and when necessary
      • Comply with Concern’s health, safety and security guidelines during emergencies
    • Programme Participant Protection Policy
      • To adhere to, support and promote the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct.
      • To contribute to the establishment of preventive measures to reduce the potential for abuse in Concern programme (as per P4 section 6).

    Job Specification

    • A diploma in community development, social sciences, livestock production, entrepreneurship, animal health, agriculture, Water engineering or relevant field
    • At least two (2) years’ experience in implementing community projects in at least one ward of the specified Sub Counties
    • Must be able and willing to ride a motorbike (candidates with valid motorbike riding license will have an added advantage)
    • Must be a resident of either Maikona or Turbi wards of North Horr Sub County
    • Fluency in both spoken and written language in: English, Swahili and at least one of the local Marsabit County languages (spoken in North Horr sub County)
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Good computing and report writing skills
    • Be able to work independently, as well as in a team
    • Be willing to accept responsibility and to show good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness

    Logistics Assistant Nairobi

    Job Summary

    The incumbent will provide logistics and procurement support in the logistics department

    Main Duties & Responsibilities

    Procurement

    • Printing field documents for approval in Nairobi & scanning back of approved documents to the field locations
    • Photocopying all procurement documents before submitting to finance
    • Updating new SRs on the SR tracker and updating tracker status on request from the procurement officer
    • Filing of procurement and logistics documents
    • Archiving of documents
    • Tracking and monitoring all original invoices from the field for payment
    • Issuing tender documents to vendors on request after tender is announced
    • Coordinating with Finance to print quotes once they are due
    • Liaising with vendors for invoices immediately after service is rendered for goods purchased
    • Updating suppliers list, regularly checking on price validity to produce an updated price list on a regular basis

    Assets / Stores Management

    • Assist in assets verification on a quarterly basis
    • Assist in receiving and dispatching items in the store, working closely with the Senior Logistics Officers in logistics and program staff
    • Liaising with vendors for any discrepancies
    • Assist in updating store records

    Responding To Emergencies

    • Participate and contribute as necessary towards Concern’s Emergency response as and when necessary
    • Comply with Concern’s health, safety and security guidelines during emergencies

    Job Specification

    • Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management, Operations Management, Information science, or relevant field
    • Professional Certification in procurement and logistics (CIPS)
    • At least one (1) years’ experience in a similar role
    • Proficiency with computers programmes, excel, word, spread sheet
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills
    • Previous experience of working in an International NGO
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skill
    • Innovative, team player with an ability to work under pressure
