    Assistant Director, Corporate Communications

    REF: EACC/CC/ADCC/03

    Reporting to the Deputy Director, Corporate Communications, this position is responsible for the implementation of advocacy strategies, communication materials, and the management of communication channels and opportunities with key stakeholders and to ensure that key messages about Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission reach the intended stakeholders.

    Duties for the Communications Job

    • Implementing the Commission’s Communications strategy to provide effective communication of relevant information to internal and external audiences;
    • Providing technical support to the Deputy Director, Corporate Communications in the preparation of the department’s operational strategy, policies, work plan and budgets to support the attainment of its mandate;
    • Driving the implementation of the Commission’s communication strategy and plan under the direction of the Deputy Director;
    • Reviewing articles and write-ups for internal and external publication as well as targeted presentations and speeches as required;
    • Maintaining and moderating the Commission’s information and user engagement channels including the intranet for staff as well as the website and other social media platforms for all users;
    • Verifying all internal and external publications and written communications to determine their effectiveness and impact on target audiences;
    • Facilitating the preparation of communication tools including brochures, banners and branded novelties for public functions and publicity events;
    • Undertaking research, write and distribute press releases to targeted media, and manage office publications, as well as periodic newsletters in line with strategy
    • Assisting to oversee general protocol;
    • Supporting the overall review and formulation of policies in the department;
    • Assisting to foster stakeholder relations to grow working relationships;
    • Assisting in overseeing the development of departmental works to ensure set standards are in line with the functional objectives;
    • Assisting to coordinate the Commission’s advertising and publicity to ensure a proper image of the commission.

    Communications Job Requirements

    • Minimum of 12 years relevant work experience from a reputable organisation;
    • Served in the grade of Senior Corporate Communications Officer or in a comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years with proven experience;
    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Communication, Public Relations, Mass Communication or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Master’s degree in any relevant discipline;
    • Relevant professional postgraduate qualification;
    • Member of a relevant professional body;
    • Extensive experience in media, public relations or communication;
    • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
    • A robust media networker & Lobbyist;
    • Knowledge of various media channels, including social media;
    • Demonstrated professional ability, initiative and competence in organizing and directing work;
    • Demonstrable computer application skills.
    • Excellent Communication skills
    • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work with and supervise multi-generational staff
    • Experience in government or public sector will be an added advantage;
