    Head of Marketing

    Our client, a Publishing Company, is a public limited liability company quoted in the NSE.

    In order to grow and achieve its vision, the company wishes to hire a Head of Marketing to be based in the Nairobi Office.

    Summary

    The role holder will be responsible for developing, implementing and executing strategic marketing plans for the company in order to attract potential customers and retain the existing ones. They will achieve this by driving campaigns across the Primary and Post Primary segments across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda through the marketing team.

    This role will also deputize for the CEO the position of Corporate Brand Custodian.

    Job Responsibilities

    Business Strategy

    • Develop, manage and ensure the marketing strategy for both the parent company and the subsidiaries are in place.
    • Review the current marketing practices in the organization and enforce best practices in the industry.
    • Analysis of the effectiveness of all marketing efforts including their contribution to the effectiveness of sales campaigns.
    • To develop and grow the Longhorn Brand – Achieve 85% brand recall rate
    • To ensure the efficient and optimal use of promotional material.

    Research

    • Monitor, review and present marketing research and market intelligence reports.
    • Monitor, review and report all marketing activities.
    • Managing launch campaigns for new products.

    Budgets

    • Financial management of the marketing programs, including budget planning and resource allocation.
    • Prepare the Marketing budget and forecasts for the fiscal year and ensure optimal use of the funds.

    Build and Maintain Relationships

    • Participate in stakeholder forums to build sustainable relationships for long term business growth.
    • To work together with the sales managers of Primary and Post Primary to achieve the sales target.
    • “Listen” to the trends of the market and direct the market research efforts of the company
    • Liaise with other departments to guide a unified approach to customer service, distribution etc. that meets market demands
    • Define marketing strategies to support the company’s overall strategies and objectives
    • Develop a feasible marketing plan for the department and oversee its day-to-day implementation
    • Plan and organize marketing functions and operations (product development, branding, communications etc.), and ensure they project the company’s unique “voice”
    • Design and coordinate promotional campaigns, PR and other marketing efforts across channels (digital, press etc.)
    • Build a highly efficient team of marketing professionals
    • Create a solid network of strategic partnership

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or any related course.
    • Certification from Chartered Institute of Marketing.
    • 5 years marketing experience of which 3 years as a brand and or sales executive.
    • Advanced computer skills.
    • Marketing strategy development.
    • A deep understanding of CRM and analytical tools
    • Data Marketing

    Relationship and experiential marketing

    • Office work environment
    • 70 % Travel
    • Regular meetings with large number of stakeholders
