    Head of Business Development and Grants

    A senior position has arisen in an FKE member organization; Feed the Children (FEED). This is an International NGO and one of the World’s leading anti-hunger organizations bringing together caring individuals to create a world where no child goes to bed hungry. FEED has operations world-wide with the Head Office of the Africa operations being in Nairobi, Kenya. The organization is seeking applications from suitable qualified candidates to fill the above vacancy to be based in Nairobi.

    Reporting to the Country Director, the Head of Business Development and Grants will be responsible for identifying, applying and implementing new or existing grants/funding opportunities, including with local corporate partners. The job holder will also work closely with key program, finance and business development colleagues both in the Country Office as well as FEED US Offices.

    Preferred Skills:

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Proposal design and development
      • Research and identify effective & authentic funding opportunities in liaison with Head Office (Oklahoma City) and Washington, DC Office
      • Directly source for grants/proposal writing by coordinating with grant writers and technical program teams
      • Coordinate development of budgets for concept notes and proposals
      • Prepare and offer training to the team on grants management and donor reporting requirements
      • Lead the resource mobilization team in ensuring proper coordination of work
    • Grants Reporting and Compliance
      • Manage and support the grants requirements according to operational and financial needs of the organization
      • Oversee the grants process of accounting, reporting, and other administrative functions to ensure successful execution of grant process
    • Communication and Documentation
      • Keep relevant staff informed of upcoming grant deadlines and deliverables
      • Prepare project financial or budget plans in accordance with each project requirements
      • Regular review of budget trends giving recommendations for project cost control
      • Provide detailed reports to the donors and Head Office about the project progress
      • Monitor data and other related reports connected with grant-funded programs
      • Maintain payment records of all receivables and prepare monthly records for all grant related activities
      • Maintain excellent relationships internally and with other partners, key donors, as well as local authorities’ agencies and corporate

    QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & KEY SKILLS

    • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or relevant field
    • Masters Degree in Business Management or related field will be desirable
    • Prior experience managing a grants portfolio in an INGO setting
    • Proven experience in securing grants-driven funding through solicitations, proposal submissions etc
    • Knowledge and experience working with key donor regulations, procedures and requirements including UN (UNICEF), US (USAID), EU and other relevant donors
    • Understanding of programming and willingness to participate in program events
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills
    • Strong command of written and verbal communication
    • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
    • Possess good knowledge in basic financial management and budget developing skills
    • Computer proficiency with knowledge of software programs and internet including cloudbased operations
