Served as a Principal Counsellor JG ‘N’ or in a comparable position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling Universities or its equivalent qualification from recognized institutions.
Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; OR Bachelor’s Degree in any of the Social Sciences from a recognized institution; Master’s Degree in Counselling, Master’s Degree in any of the Social Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution is an added advantage;
Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks;
Trainer of Facilitation Course in Psychological Counselling lasting not less than two (2) weeks;
Counsellor Supervision Course;
Psychological Debriefing Course;
Registration with the Kenya Counselling Association (KCA);
Proficiency in Computer Applications;
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Job Description
Coordinate the planning, administration of Counselling services in the County
Undertaking client assessment and developing and administering counselling contract
Come up with Individual treatment plans and refer employees to other sources of help when required and receiving referrals from counsellors in the unit, analyzing and reviewing clients
Developing or Sourcing for tools that can be used in counselling
Developing standard operating procedures
Preparing Psychological reports
Maintain high ethical standards related to the provision of psychological services including but not limited to confidentiality.
Ensure the records are kept by preparing and retaining correspondence, reports, documents and other written materials of clients.
Participate in the formulation of counselling policies, regulations and strategies
Participate in the implementation, interpretation and review of counselling policies and procedures
Coordinate employee mental health programs and activities for quality, continuous improvement, performance, employee retention and employee - employer relations;
Plan organized sensitizations, training and workshops for employees on mental health
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on counselling matters and case management
Monitor trends and come up with mental health programs for groups
and participate in research in Counselling
Offering supervision to counsellors in the county
Offer psychological first aid to employees and families following critical incidents.
Work closely with other departments to ensure early identification and management of employees with psychosocial or health related challenge
