Assistant Manager – Capacity Planning and Service Continuity at Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)

Job Summary:

The job holder is responsible for management of capacity and continuity plans for all IT infrastructure and systems to ensure 24/7 availability and high performance of all IT services in line with the corporate business continuity strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepares and regularly reviews long and short term availability and capacity management plans to ensure optimal utilization of system resources.
2. Identifies any capacity bottlenecks and recommend corrective action;
3. Coordinates implementation of the long and short term availability and capacity management plans and provides monthly availability reports to management.
4. Facilitates the development of current and projected assessments of ICT Infrastructure capacity requirements.
5. Coordinates implementation of corporate BCM objectives in the unit.
6. Develops the unit’s Annual Work Plan and draft budget and coordinates their implementation;
7. Prepares monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports for the unit;
8. Develops, mentors and coaches staff in the unit;
9. Conducts performance management in the unit;
10. Ensure conformity to ISO (9001/2015 and 27001/2013) and data security requirements.

Academic and Professional Qualification

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or any other IT related field.

Required Certifications/Training

1. IT Governance, ITIL or COBIT
2. At least one of the following Certifications: MCSA, MCSE, Networking (CCNA), Linux or UNIX Administration.

Desired Certifications and Training

1. Project Management, i.e. Prince II, PMP
2. Business continuity management Training

Relevant Work Experience/Technical Skills Required

1. The job holder should have at least four (4) years’ progressive experience in IT Data Centre environment, with at least one (1) years in a supervisory role Systems, Database or Business system support at Data Centre or Network Operation Centre.
2. Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and how they might be applied to support business outcomes. Knowledge of Data Centre platform and cloud technologies (Software defined Data Centre, Software defined WAN/LAN), Linux OS, Microsoft Server OS, VMware ESXi platform virtualization, application containerization, Storage capacity management or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) management tools is an added advantage.
3. Ability to Implement and monitor appropriate records, information and policies
4. Experience in capacity and availability planning
