Assistant Rig Operator/ Plant Operator II at Taita Taveta County Public Service Board

Duties and Responsibilities will entail:

• Helping assemble and disassemble rigs and equipment at various site by connecting drill pipes, casings, power cables and drill heads
• Working closely with an experienced driller to regulate, control, service pumps and drill equipment
• Undertaking routine maintenance and repair under the supervision of the experienced driller.
• Manage the table, drilling must, and safety the other workers around the table machine.

Requirements for appointment:

• The candidate must be in possession of a certificate in plant operator /or at least a certificate from a recognized institution, Kenya Water Institute (drilling option), PRD rigs Kenya or any other approved equivalent qualifications;
• Be able to do both mud and air drilling.
• Be able to interpret hydrogeological survey
• Be able to do borehole design after drilling
• Ba able to do trouble shooting basic and maintenance
• Ability to guide and control drilling team on site.
• At least five (3) years relevant experience in a busy water drilling and installation work shop and working with drilling machines;
• Must be in possession of a valid driving license.
• Minimum ‘Secondary’ level education.
• Ability to work under minimum supervision with a high sense of personal initiative, keen & fast learner, good communicator, a good team player.
