    Conservation Program Associate

    Major Functions:

    The role will provide technical and administrative support to the Director Conservation Impact – Africa and the regional conservation team. The role will also perform a range of technical and administrative functions to support effective conservation delivery across the region, including support to WWF’s country office, transboundary landscape, and regional program teams. Additional activities include support for crosscutting business functions to ensure the smooth running of the Nairobi Hub.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical and program support to the Director, Conservation Impact – Africa, and direct reports, including managing communications, calendars, appointments, logistics and meetings;
    • Prepare first draft of documents, letters and reports – edit and review documents drafted by others for dissemination by the DCIA;
    • Managing and maintaining the DCIA’s diary and flagging on urgent correspondence;
    • Plan and coordinate logistics for DCIA’s participation in internal and external events; Assisting the DCIA to plan trips and ensure effective logistics items (flights, visas, travel advance, travel request, itinerary table and contacts, invitation letter, hotel confirmation, related travel documents) are up to date;
    • Following up on invitations from partners and in consultation with the DCIA, ensuring WWF’s representation;
    • Organize and coordinate meetings with country office teams, regional programs, transboundary landscapes, WWF network partners, and external partners;
    • Organize and provide support for meetings and conferences, including logistics, coordination, agendas, facilitation, minutes and report preparation;
    • Coordinates organization and agenda of regional conservation team’s regular management team meetings, including developing action points, monitoring and logistics;
    • Support the coordination and management of key knowledge products and general documents for the regional conservation team;
    • Conduct research and analysis, draft reports, and prepare briefing papers and presentations as necessary;
    • Maintaining and management of leave schedule for the DCIA and direct reports;
    • Coordinate procurement, recruitment, and budgeting and monitor the DCIA and regional conservation team’s expenses and action as necessary;
    • Develop and sustain a high level of professionalism among team members;
    • Any other duties as assigned by the DCIA including any special shortterm projects.

    Profile:

    Required Qualifications;

    • A University Degree in Business Administration or related field; Master’s in Business Administration and experience in conservation would be an advantage;
    • At least five years’ work experience in a reputable International NGO in a similar or equivalent position;
    • Proven track record in successfully working with Director level functions in international development, and/or other related fields.

    • Excellent technology skills and knowledge of computer applications;
    • Creative and critical thinking, including the ability to analyze and communicate complex ideas, and create effective and impactful presentations;
    • Curiosity and eagerness to learn and grow;
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt, reprioritize, and meet deadlines;
    • Be highly organized with exceptional planning and coordination skills;
    • Resultsfocused, including taking the initiative in completing assignments, solving problems, and seeking solutions;
    • Excellent command of written and spoken English (French would be an advantage);

    Working Relationships:

    • Internal – Interacts regularly with Directors, WWF regional team members, technical staff, key staff at WWF International, Practice Leaders and with National Organization Chief Executives and Conservation Directors, Program Office Representatives, and other WWF staff in the fulfillment of duties.
    • External – Interacts with partners, donors, representatives, and visitors, as required in fulfillment of duties.
