    Trans Nzoia County is among the 47 counties established by the Kenya Constitution under article 6(1) and specified in the First Schedule. Article 176 (1) establishes a county government for each county consisting of the county assembly and the county executive. The Trans Nzoia county government was operationalized in March 2013 after the country’s general election with H.E Hon. Patrick Simiyu Khaemba as the first popularly elected Governor.

    County Director Economic Planning (Re-Advertised)

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Headship of central planning and project monitoring in the County
    • Direction of economic planning functions or production of statistical data an County Level;
    • Coordination and formulation of County development strategies, policies and programmes within the department responsible for County economic planning and in other departments for collation and presentation on statistical data in the form of survey reports and bulleting;
    • Preparation of County development plans and coordination of County positions on national economic subjects;
    • Monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes.
    • Planning and Projection of Manpower needs and training to meet County development objectives, population surveys and compilation of data for planning and social services, manpower surveys and in conjunction with the department responsible for employment , undertaking labour force studies and monitoring employment in the County.
    • Assisting in collection, collation, processing and administration of statistical data in accordance with the Statistics Act.
    • Formulating coordinated strategies, policies and programmes for the harmonious development of economic sectors, carrying out sector studies and research, monitoring changes in key indicators of sectoral economic structures, trends and efficiency.
    • Supervising of officers in his /her division

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to the grade an officer must have:-

    • Served in the grade of Deputy Chief Economist / Deputy Chief Statistician for at least three[3] years or other comparable and relevant position in the economic planning or in compilation and production of statistical data for national economic planning and development for at least twelve[12] years of which three[3] years must be a Senior Economic Policy Research/ Economic Planning position;
    • Demonstrated outstanding professional competence matched with proper appreciation on the Country’s economic development needs at the County, Regional and National levels and the strategies necessary to meet them;
    • Attained qualifications in Economics or Statistics of at least Masters of Arts [MA], Masters of Science [MSc] or Master of Philosophy [MPhil.] Level or the equivalent recognized qualification.
    • A certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks or its equivalent from a recognized Institution;
    • Demonstrated a high degree of administrative capability coupled with wide experience in economic planning or in the production and interpretation of statistical data.
