Deputy Director – Culture at Kitui County

Requirements for Appointment

1. Served in the grade of Assistant Director, Culture for a minimum period of three (3) years;
2. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Performing or Visual Arts, Arts or Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Philosophy, Archeology, Creative Arts, Theatre Arts, Music, Fine Arts, Literature, Theatre and Film studies, Kiswahili and Literary studies, Kiswahili, English, Linguistics, Psychology, Management of Development, Cultural Tourism or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
3. Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Performing or Visual Arts, Arts or Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Philosophy, Archeology, Creative Arts, Theatre Arts, Music, Fine Arts, Literature, Theatre and Film Studies, Kiswahili and Literary Studies, Kiswahili, English, Linguistics, Psychology, Management of Development, Cultural Tourism or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
4. Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
5. Certificate in computer applications skills from a recognized institution; and
6. Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Formulating, implementing and reviewing of related culture and Arts policies, programmes and strategies;
2. Mobilizing technical support for the execution of the divisions programs;
3. Undertaking research on the Culture and Arts forms and disciplines;
4. Promoting partnership, collaborations and approving plans for synergies with partners for empowering artistes;
5. Participating in local, regional, national and international programmes in performing, visual and literary arts; and
6. Coordinating the financial and assets management of the department.
