Terms of Service: Contract-Three Years (Renewable)

Requirements for Appointment

1. Be a Kenyan citizen;
2. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts or Science and a post graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized institution;
3. Served in the grade of Deputy Director for a minimum period of three (3) years;
4. Attended a senior management course lasting for a period of not less than 4 weeks; and
5. Be registered as a teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Liaise with curriculum development bodies in the development, evaluation and implementation of curriculum for the ECDE centers;
• Coordinate the articulation, interpretation and dissemination of policy issues, regulations and procedures on curriculum development, implementation and management in the County;
• Evaluate and Monitor implementation of curriculum in ECDE centers in the County;
• Coordination of the management of curriculum in the ECDE centers in the County;
• Ensure implementation of National and County specific policies and legislation on ECDE;
• Ensure smooth running of the childcare provision within the County;
• Ensure the overall staff and organizational development for the various childcare facilities;
• Develop partnership with the early years and childcare development experts to ensure the childcare provision meets the best practice for the early childhood development;
• Develop innovative ideas and solutions to improve the delivery of the ECDE and childcare provision;
• Liaise with donors and financiers on matters regarding construction and equipping of ECDE centers
• Ensure that childcare centers promote children’s holistic development, play and learning;
• Ensure that child protection policies and procedures are adhered to at all times in liaison with the children officer;
• Ensure that relevant support is given to staff development and training; and
• Any other duty as may be assigned by a competent authority.

Salary Scale: The salary, allowances and other benefits attached to the above positions will be as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
