    Director Co-operative Development

    DIRECTOR CO-OPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT – JOB GROUP CPSB 03 (R) - (1 POST)

    This position is responsible for enforcing compliance with cooperative legislation for all cooperative movements in the county and revival of defunct and new cooperatives.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    •  Participate in the formulation and implementation of the County and National Cooperative policy.
    •  Promote existing investments and potential investment opportunities within the county through promotions and campaigns in order to create more awareness.
    •  Provide Business Development Services for members of the county so as to enhance businesses within the county.
    •  Promote Export of businesses and domesticating Inter-County, bilateral, Regional and International cooperation at the County level.
    •  Organise and conduct cooperative fairs/exhibitions and facilitating cooperative missions in and out of the County.
    •  Conduct co-operative banking inspections in order to ensure the institutions comply with the regulations and legislation.
    •  Undertake co-operative risk assessment in order to mitigate risks within the cooperative development in the county
    •  Prepare and evaluate co-operative activities and trends to promote cooperative movement within the county.
    •  Participate in the budgeting process for the section.
    •  Conduct market research disseminate and analyze data collected for policy formulation for cooperative movements.

    REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

    •  Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, and Economics, Entrepreneurship, Cooperative Management, Marketing, Organizational Development, Finance or related field from a recognized University.
    •  Master’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, and Economics, Entrepreneurship, Cooperative Management, Marketing, Organizational Development, Finance or related field from a recognized University.
    •  Certificate in Strategic leadership Development Programme lasting not lessthan six (6) weeks from a recognized institution or its equivalent will be an added advantage.
    •  Demonstrated managerial, administrative, and professional competence in work performance and exhibited a thorough understanding of County and National goals, policies, objectives and ability to relate them to the Cooperative Development and Marketing Function.
    •  Must have served in the grade of Deputy Director Co-operative Development or equivalent position or experience of not less than Nine (9) years in a related area within the Public Service of Private Sector.
    •  Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Constitution of Kenya 2010, County Government Act of 2012 etc.
    •  In-depth knowledge of the Co-operative Societies Act, 2012
    •  Ability to build and lead cohesive teams
    •  Satisfies the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

    Terms of Service: Contract
    Salary: As set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC)
