Director Culture, Arts and Heritage at Turkana County Government

REF: TUR/CPSB/017/2022/2023: DIRECTOR CULTURE, ARTS & HERITAGE, JOB GROUP “R”, POSITION: ONE (1)

• Director Culture and Arts and Heritage will be responsible to County Chief Officer in matters related to Culture and Arts in the County.

Duties and responsibilities

• Promote all forms of positive culture expressions through literature, the arts, traditional celebrations, science, communications, mass media, publications, libraries and other forms of cultural heritage;
• Develop and regulate cultural activities;
• Coordinate on observe international days on culture;
• Patent and promote unique cultural forums and music, cuisines, crafts and other forms of arts.
• Preserve, conserve and protect areas of cultural heritage;
• Formulate, implement and monitor culture and arts policies and legislative frameworks;
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Requirement for appointment
For appointment in this grade, a candidate must have: -

• Served in the grade of Assistant Director Culture and Arts for a minimum period of three (3) years or in any comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or Public Sector;
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, or its relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Master’s degree in Social Science, or its relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution will be added advantage;
• Attended Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution in Kenya;
• Certificate in Computer Application from a recognized institution; and
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding for national goals, policies, objectives and the ability to relate them to the Culture and Arts function.
• Terms of Service: Local Contract (3 Years)
