In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

    Driver East Africa

    The driver shall be responsible for safely transporting NRC staff and equipment/materials to approved destinations.

    Responsibilities

    Generic responsibilities 

    • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
    • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
    • Promote and share ideas for improvement
    • Perform according to the work and development plan

    Specific responsibilities

    • Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
    • Transport NRC staff, visitors, documents and goods/materials to designated destinations when officially approved
    • Ensure the safety and security of the passengers, the goods and the vehicle
    • Immediately report accidents, breakdowns and needs of repair and general maintenance/service
    • Respect the local traffic regulations and the NRC logistical, drivers and vehicle policies at all times
    • Maintain the vehicle in proper operating condition at all times, including keeping the vehicle clean, ensuring enough fuel, checking the technical state etc.
    • In liaison with the line manager, arrange for repairs and servicing
    • Ensure the assigned vehicle has all the necessary documents and equipment i.e. vehicle insurance, licenses, logs, first aid kit, necessary spare parts and tools, etc
    • Maintain the logbook for all trips
    • Filing of all vehicle records and reports

    Professional competencies:

    • Valid driver’s license
    • Experience from working as a Driver in a humanitarian/recovery context
    • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
    • Some knowledge of English
    • The driver has to be flexible during the work hours based on Monday to Friday.
    • Some technical knowledge of a vehicle
