Position context
The World Bank Africa Region’s Urban DRM Resilience and Land GP (GPURL) is working with the Government of Uganda (GoU) to support the urban development agenda in its National Development Plan (NDP). To support the growing urban program within Uganda, the AFR Urban, Resilience and Land Unit is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Urban Specialist on a 2-year appointment with strong experience in resilient infrastructure, the urban and spatial planning, urban services management, municipal governance and finance, land management and administration, and urban upgrading.
Demonstrated experience effectively operating in developing countries and knowledge of municipal infrastructure engineering and PforR operation is highly desired. Lead and/or participate in task teams to deliver lending operations, prepare analytical and advisory activities, and develop new business opportunities in URL sector. Lead and/or contribute to the urban development policy dialogues and provide just-in-time advisory work in business development and policy reform. The Work Program will focus primarily on IDA funded urban programs/projects in Uganda and facilitating the linkages between the various projects and communication between the partners. The selected candidate will be based in Kampala, Uganda, reporting to the Practice Manager, SAEU3.
