    Hydrologist II - 9 Posts

    Job Summary

    • This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

    Hydrology Function

    • The cadre is responsible for identifying, mapping and developing of surface water monitoring network; constructing, installing and maintaining hydrological stations; collecting surface water data, analyzing and preparing hydrological reports.

    Duties and Responsibilities will entail:

    • Compiling data, cleaning, analysing for preparation of technical reports and other documentation regarding hydrological work;
    • Evaluating hydrological reports and advising on the viability of water use projects for surface water allocation under the supervision of a senior officer;
    • Assessing hydrometric stations and recommending rehabilitation requirements;
    •  Undertaking spatial analysis of surface water resources and preparing reports;
    • Compiling and preparing the data for development of rating equations for river monitoring stations;
    •  Evaluation of hydrological reports for permit applications; and
    • Performing hydrological computations, data cleaning, analyses and report writing.

    Job Specifications
    For appointment to this grade, the candidate must have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Hydrology, water and environmental engineering, civil engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
    • Proficiency in computer applications.

    Method of Application

    Terms of Service and Remuneration

    Successful candidates will serve for a probationary period of six (6) months thereafter convert to Permanent and Pensionable Terms of Service. Remuneration will be subject to the existing terms approved by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
