    Impact Officer

    Your Role and Responsibilities

    While reporting to the Enterprise Development Manager, the Impact Officer will be responsible for integrating ESG & Impact considerations into the investment process, portfolio management, stakeholders relations and sustainability. You will work in liaison with the investment and enterprise development teams to;

    • Conduct impact due diligence; analyse and articulate the development impacts for prospective investment deals.
    • Provide technical assistance to portfolio companies in developing their impact frameworks, planning and reporting tools.
    • Monitor over time how the performance of portfolio companies against their development impact goals and KPIs.
    • Conduct site visits to validate investee impact
    • Coordinate ESG assessments and support mainstreaming of best practice into KCV and portfolio businesses.
    • Conduct exit analysis, document lessons and feed back for improved investment evaluation and portfolio management decisions/ practice.
    • Collect data, analyse, and articulate the development impacts on portfolio level to support in improving the company’s Theory of Change and impact reporting.
    • Coordinate impact studies and assessments in investment sectors and markets.
    • Build investee’s capacity in understanding impact assumptions and calculating key impact metrics
    • Support Communications Team to develop institutional and portfolio impact stories/ reports/articles.

    Do you have what is takes?

    For this role, the qualifications include;

    • Relevant academic background with at least a bachelor’s degree in development, agricultural economics, sustainable energy, business management, social studies, engineering or statistics or related course.
    • Masters degree in business administration, project management, is an added advantage.
    • 5 - 8 years of professional experience, hopefully including responsible investments, impact measurements, evaluation processes or development finance. All knowledge of impact and climate investing terminology and tools is considered a merit.
    • A strong business perspective, preferably from a financial institution or development financing institution. Experience with investments within the focus areas of renewable energy, water, commercial forestry, agribusiness and waste management.
    • Experience with monitoring impact of climate lens, gender lens and/ or refugee lens investment.
    • Outstanding organizational skills, including ability to set priorities, develop work plans towards multiple goals, monitor progress and track details on information and activities.
    • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
    • Familiar with statistical tools for data analytics and presentation
    • Must possess good understanding of SGBs financing and support, private sector.
    • Must possess understanding of climate financing.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with a good aptitude for pro - active communication and transparency, patience and perseverance.
    • Ability to influence and push the impact agenda internally and externally.
    • Prefered work experience from Sub Saharan Africa.
    • Full professional proficiency in English.
