    Manager – Conveyancing

    Purpose of the job

    • Responsible for the implementation of policy and strategy related to Conveyancing as well as offering team leadership in Conveyancing functions.

    Tasks and outputs:

    • Participate in the formulation and ensure implementation of strategies for the Conveyancing Unit.
    • Supervise searches at various land and companies registries.
    • Participate in preparation of the unit’s budget and work plan.
    • Facilitate implementation of the work plans for the following corporate initiatives in the section/unit; Audit, Integrity, QMS and Risk Management.
    • Negotiate commercial, corporate and conveyancing transactions on behalf of the Authority.
    • Monitor contract timelines and update user department on expiry of the same.
    • Participate in the preparation of the Section’s work plan and budgets.
    • Ensure compliance with agreed systems and procedures to enhance efficient and effective prevention and execution of business risks.
    • Review and advise Management and the Board on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
    • Arrange and participate in stakeholder engagements (ICPSK, IOD, SCAC, AG, and Lands Registries).
    • Promote career and continuous professional development of staff in the Section.
    • Manage the general performance of staff in the respective teams.
    • Drive initiatives to improve ethics, culture and facilitate change management in the section/unit
    • Maintain records of sealed legal instruments.
    • Review and vetting of legal instruments.

     

    Skills required:

    Minimum qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB).
    • A Post graduate diploma in Law.
    • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
    • Possess a valid Practicing Certificate (LSK).
    • Computer literate.
    • Management and Governance courses.
    • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.

    Minimum years of experience

    • 5 years post admission experience in commercial law and conveyancing practice, 2 of which should be in a middle level management position in a comparable organization.
