    OpenMRS Developer

    Job Description

    The OpenMRS Developer shall be responsible for ensuring the alignment of web design and user experience requirements, optimizing web pages for maximum efficiency, and maintaining consistency across all pages. He/she will be required to work in a team alongside Backend Developers, UX Designers, Business analysts to ensure project requirements are met consistently. The developer shall also ensure that the different software developed conforms to country software development standards by overseeing a business analyst team conducting a rigorous diagnosis, tests, code debugging, and technical documentation through reference manuals. The developer must be able to demonstrate their skills and show proof of their OpenMRS work.

    Responsibilities

    • Gathering user requirements & creating use cases.
    • Developing functional and technical specifications.
    • Utilize established development tools, guidelines, and conventions to design, develop and test and document new custom modules in KenyaEMR
    • Maintain existing applications by fixing any bugs & adding new enhancements
    • Collaborate with other team members/ developers/ system analysts
    • Integrate KenyaEMR with other third-party systems including lab, Pharmacy and SMS systems
    • Troubleshooting the functionality of the integration
    • Troubleshooting user issues & providing fixes and where necessary, cascade the issues to the national mechanisms
    • Training of system users & other stakeholders
    • Writing queries to extract data for reporting
    • Support the roll-out process of KenyaEMR

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (preferably in Social Science, Economics, or Statistics, ComputerScience, Computer Engineering, Information Systems Technology, or a related field.

    Experience

    • Experience developing Healthcare systems would be an added advantage.
    • 2 years of experience in software development.
