    Partnership Facilitator I- Turkana

    As a Partnership Facilitator I- you will be an entry-level professional serving as a liaison to the local church and assisting in strengthening local ownership, capacity, and resources of local church partners to minister to children and youth in their own context. You will be responsible for nurturing relationships with church partners that are characterized by mutual respect, trust, and service that builds up church ministry. You will learn how to facilitate relationships through the Partner Management core process, for improving achievement of church outcomes, and for bringing a developmental mindset to all other aspects of the partnership. At this level, you will still be learning and assisting with facilitating church partnerships for your assigned location and will generally work under the guidance of your supervisor or a more experienced facilitator.

    What will you do?

    • Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understand Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry.
    • Demonstrate a personal commitment to serve, respect, and empower the church according to principles outlined in Compassion’s ministry philosophies. •
    • Community Engagement: Build trust and credibility with pastoralist and local communities by respecting cultural norms, using local languages, and working within established authority structures.
    • Field Operations: Operate effectively in remote, resource-limited, and high-temperature environments, managing long travel distances, limited infrastructure, and extended field assignments.
    • Safeguarding & Child Protection: Uphold child protection standards, advocate for children’s rights and education, and support the mitigation of harmful cultural practices in alignment with local governance systems. Ensure timely reporting and appropriate response to safeguarding concerns.
    • Conflict Sensitivity: Navigate inter-community tensions with neutrality and fairness, applying peacebuilding approaches that foster reconciliation and coexistence.
    • Risk Management & Judgment: Exercise sound judgment under pressure, making balanced decisions in complex or emotionally charged situations.
    • Sustainable Development: Support long-term community transformation by aligning initiatives with community-driven processes and respecting the natural pace of change.
    • Church Partnership & Empowerment: Serve as a liaison to local church partners, supporting their ownership, capacity, and maturity in child and youth ministry through developmental approaches and resource mobilization.
    • Program Cycle Support: Assist church partners through all phases of the program cycle — needs assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation — ensuring community participation and alignment with Compassion’s standards.
    • Cluster Coordination & Team Collaboration: Facilitate collaboration among clusters of churches, coordinate with Church Facing Team (CFT) members to provide tailored support, document assistance provided, and follow up on identified needs.
    • Accountability & Continuous Improvement: Ensure delivery of Compassion’s commitments to churches, contribute to partnership management objectives, and support process improvements based on feedback and metrics.
    • Capacity Building: Help churches engage parents, caregivers, youth, and community stakeholders in ministry design and implementation, strengthening local ownership and sustainability.

    What do you bring?

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Anthropology, Sociology, Development Studies, Community Development, Human Geography or any other closely related field.
    • One to two years of work experience in a professional setting.
    • Prior experience working with youth and in safeguarding and child protection. Strong understanding of local governance systems with commitments to children’s rights, education and mitigation of harmful practices.
    • Currently based in Turkana and/or prior experience working there in a field based role. Proven cultural intelligence and credibility strongly preferred. Experience engaging effectively with pastoralist communities, respecting cultural norms, local languages, and authority structures.
    • Demonstrated capacity to operate in remote, resource-limited environments, exercising sound judgment under pressure and adapting to challenging conditions.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to travel up to 50% of schedule
