    Resident Surgeon - Parkland

    Main Purpose of the Job
    To provide overall clinical leadership and governance as well as clinical care in the department of clinical medicine. He or she will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team in the hospital and to
    contribute to the continuing professional development programs. 

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Conduct general Surgery outpatient clinics in line with the hospital schedules and attend to both
    2. walk-in and referred patients. 
    3. Attend to all patients who require general surgery in theater within hospital standard operating
    4. procedures, national and internationally guidelines. 
    5. Conducting timely ward rounds/patient reviews for all general surgery patients in the hospital, in line
    6. with the hospital standard operating procedures, national, and international treatment guidelines. 
    7. Accurate and clear documentation of patient history, physical examination, investigations, and management. 
    8. Provide clarity of investigations to be carried out and interpretation of the results and ensure update to the patients and the next of kin. 
    9. Facilitate patient admissions, necessary consents, and discharges. 
    10. Counsel clients on treatment and compliance to treatment (patient and family) while ensuring their participation in decision making in their management. 
    11. Carry out procedures and surgical interventions as per authorized/licensed privileges while ensuring high quality of care/services and safety of patients. 
    12. Conduct family conferences in line with hospital standard operating procedures 
    13. Participate in morbidity and mortality audits and meetings. 
    14. Participation in incident reporting, root cause analysis and Quality Improvement Plan 
    15. Participate in the continuous review and improvement of departmental standard operating procedures 
    16. Facilitate Continuous Medical Education, mentorship, and skills training to colleagues 
    17. Acquiring new skills on best practices and proactively facilitate implementation. 
    18. Maintain a positive work attitude and foster teamwork. 
    19. Always maintain patient privacy and confidentiality. 
    20. Ensure patient satisfaction through quality of care, communication, feedback and escalation and demonstrate follow-up and improvement. 

    Person Specification

    1. Holder of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery 
    2. Master’s Degree in Surgery
    3. Specialist Recognition 
    4. A valid KMPDB license
    5. Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certificate 
    6. Experience as a physician will be an added advantage.
