Terms of Reference – Portuguese translation consultancy at African Guarantee Fund (AGF)

OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The objective of this consultancy is to interpret AGF client documentation from Portuguese to English.

SCOPE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

• Planning the financial review
• The consultant is required to be available upon request for translation of all documents that AGF receives from clients based in the Portuguese speaking countries.
• On the basis of the information received, the consultant will:
• Undertake content translation from Portuguese to English as required.
• Submit quality final translations in a timely manner.

DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The consultant’s services will be required whenever AGF receives client documentation submitted in Portuguese.

COMPETENCIES

The consultant should have:

• Strong research and writing skills, with strong analytical skills and creative thinking;
• Background experience in finance and risk
• Ability to think and work logically and precisely with attention to detail;
• Ability to multi-task and address competing priorities
• Ability to produce quality deliverables in a timely manner
• Good reputation
• An estimated cost for each assignment
• Previous experience with financial institutions is an advantage.

SUBMISSION PACKAGE

1. Cover letter and curriculum vitae of the consultant
2. Letter of Interest containing a statement on candidate’s experience in PortugueseEnglish translation
3. Financial proposal, specifying a break down of costs per word/per page or per hour for the interpretation services
4. Sample of past work

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Contractor’s performance will be evaluated based on: timeliness, responsibility, communication, accuracy and quality of work delivered.
